Objectives of the project <ul><li>The teaching of subject material in a bilingual group with isiZulu and English as the languages in the Class </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Developing subject material in both English and isiZulu. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Capacity building of non-speaking isiZulu lecturers to be competent in teaching both in English and IsiZulu at the same time. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Competent lecturers to facilitate bilingual learning sessions </li></ul></ul></ul>

Objectives (Continue) <ul><li>Providing the Nursing profession in primarily KwaZulu-Natal with professionals that are competent in both English and isiZulu as language in their practice </li></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>IsiZulu speaking professionals competent and confident to practice their profession in their mother tongue </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Non-speaking isiZulu professionals competent in speaking isiZulu while practicing their profession with Zulu speaking clients. </li></ul></ul></ul>

Sub-Objectives (first year of project) <ul><li>Identifying and developing the course content to be used in the pilot project </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Translation of case studies for second half of year to be used in teaching in Fundemental Nursing </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Translation of all assessment tools students will use in the community (second year course content). </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Translation of the concepts most found to describe health needs in the community(second year course content). </li></ul></ul></ul>

Sub-Objectives (first year of project) <ul><li>Implimenting first year students </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Basic training of nonspeaking isiZulu students in basic conversational isiZulu followed up by a subject spesific module </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Facilitation of second semester group discussions in both isiZulu and English </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Assistance of interpreter in class. </li></ul></ul></ul>
