Limiting Beliefs hold us back from reaching our true potential. They also drain our energy every step of the way. Learn how to identify the presence of a limiting belief and how to being the process of reclaiming your power.

Liberate Yourself From Limiting Beliefs

  2. 2. What Is This Thing We Call a Limiting Belief? A belief about yourself or the reality of the world that keeps you stuck in suffering.
  3. 3. What does this look like? Resistance to change. Helplessness in the face of a new challenge. Hopelessness about one’s ability to do things differently.
  4. 4. What Does This Feel Like? Most people experience a felt sense of tension, heaviness, and/or cold in the body when they are under the influence of a limiting belief. Also common is a freeze or collapse response in the body.
  5. 5. What Does This Sound Like? Just a FEW examples: This is a dog eat dog world. No pain no gain. This is a man’s world. The only person you can really count on is you! Never show weakness. Play is for children. Man up.
  6. 6. Where do limiting beliefs come from?
  7. 7. From Our Past Experiences Past experiences will influence our ability to imagine future possibilities.
  8. 8. From Our Family of Origin Our families are mini-cultures that help shape our perception of ourselves, reality, and life possibilities. Even the most supportive and fabulous families pass down limiting belief systems.
  9. 9. Our Culture Every culture has its own history. Some communities have been subjected to more adversity than other. This can make certain communities more vulnerable to the power of limiting beliefs. Either way every community has a collective consciousness that effects the people that make up the community.
  10. 10. How Can You Get Out From Under the Control of Limiting Beliefs?
  11. 11. Think About What You Think!
  12. 12. Listen to the little voice in your head.
  13. 13. Think about whose voice is speaking to you via your thoughts. Is the voice a… parent? Teacher? community leader? you?
  14. 14. Make conscious choices about what messages you listen to and what messages you ignore. Ask: Does this serve me?
  15. 15. Be Mindful of Your Body
  16. 16. When there is tension, there is often the influence of a limiting belief.
  17. 17. When there is inaction or a freeze response, there is often the influence of a limiting belief.
  18. 18. Is your body shrinking?
  19. 19. Don’t limit your growth away from limiting beliefs by layering on more limiting beliefs.
  20. 20. You are not broken for having limiting beliefs. You are not weak for having limiting beliefs. You are not stupid for having limiting beliefs.
  21. 21. Take it one moment at a time. Working your way out from under the control of limiting beliefs is about practice never about perfection.
