Production - Front Cover

  1. 1. Screen grabs – front cover
  2. 2. This is the picture I chose to be the main image for the front cover of my Indiemusic magazine. As you can see the image has direct address and is also verystriking and unusual so attracts the target audiences attention straight away.
  3. 3. I chose the title AIM (All Indie Music) and put it on my background image by usingthe text tool on Photoshop.
  4. 4. I then selected the title and clicked on the‘Fx’ button below where the layers of myproduction are situated.
  5. 5. I then chose the ‘Bevel and Emboss’ effect for my magazine title, as itstands out when you first look at my front cover.
  6. 6. After choosing the Bevel and Emboss effect I had to decide the depth and size ofthe effect on the title.
  7. 7. After adding the effects to my title this is what it finally looked like when itwas finished.
  8. 8. By using the text tool onPhotoshop I added myPositioning Statementunderneath myMasthead. I made thetext all in capital lettersto make it clear andstandout.
  9. 9. Here, I again used the text tool on After I had positioned my MainPhotoshop to add the Main Coverline Coverline, underneath I added theto my front cover. I chose the colour Coverline for that specific article. Ired so that it would stand out against again used the text tool on Photoshopthe main image and it also anchored to do this.to the same colour as the masthead.
  10. 10. Then added the smaller coverI then added each of the cover lines with extra informationlines to my front cover in the about the article underneathsame red that I had used for the other cover lines. Thesemy main cover line. are in white so they are different to the above cover line.
  11. 11. I repeated this step for all of the 5 cover lines that are on my front cover.
  12. 12. To add the Issue number, date andprice to my front cover. To do this Iused the text tool in Photoshopand to turn it upright used therotation button that’s found on theframe around the text.
  13. 13. To make this circle on my front cover I used the shape tool on Photoshop, then I positioned it where it was meant to be on the cover and filled it inthe colour black.
  14. 14. After I had created the black circleon my front cover. I used the texttool again to add the word‘Exclusive’ and chose the redbecause it stands out against theblack background and follows thecolour scheme of my magazine.
  15. 15. After I added the word ‘Exclusive’ forthe rest of the title for the article Iadded ‘Florence and the Machine’this is what the article is about. Tomake it look original I used white asthe font colour and it also so stoodout on the black background jus likethe red font.
  16. 16. To import the barcodeonto my work I had tofirst open the pictureinto a separatePhotoshop document, crop it and then save itas a JPEG so that Iwould be able toimport it
