journey.

The starting point.
● This phrase should sum it up: Lenders give you money, Realtors help you
spend it. We needed to figure out how much money we could spend.
● The unofficial starting place to house hacking is self-education in real
estate investing, networking and learning from other investors, and
speaking with a real estate agent.

Visiting Lenders
We decided to visit four different lenders; two that I have been in
transactions with (it’s always a good idea to have a Realtor recommend a
lender. To find out why to visit this blog post), one that I was in a networking
group with, and one that I had never worked with nor met.
It was very enlightening to work with the lenders from the standpoint of
a borrower instead of a Realtor. It really helped me appreciate what they do
and how well they communicate. It was also very nice to sit down with a
lender that we were referred to by a coworker of my wife; we had no history
and it really allowed us to be treated as a true prospect. She didn’t know
who we were nor our communication style. She adjusted on the fly and took
the time to get to know us, our story, and our goals.
