Odoo 14 Data Cleaning

INTRODUCTION
 The New Data cleaning module helps to remove duplicate data in odoo database.
 Whenever we create records this module checks the redundancy of data and gives
suggestions for deleting or archiving those data.
 Certain rules are created inside the module and according to that rule, redundant data are
removed/archived.
 Data can be automatically merged to a single record or it can be done manually also.

 First, install the Data cleaning module from the app store.

 Open Data cleaning module go to - Configuration - Deduplication Rules Already we have
some deduplication rules applied on certain models.

 Now let us create a new deduplication rule

 The form contains:
--Name : Provide name of the deduplication rule
--Model : To which model,the rule is applied
--Domain : To add filtration on records
--Cross-Company : Switch to enable Cross-Company so that the rule is applied to all
companies
--Deduplicate removal : There are two options- Archive, Delete. The action need to
perform on records

--Merge mode : Automatic, Manual
--Notify users : We can notify users whenever the process is done(Days, Weeks, Months)
--Suggestion threshold Active : It can be made active or inactive
--Deduplication rule : Below we have a tree view to add the rules. So inside a single form, we can
add multiple rule lines. A rule line contains two fields: Unique ID field, merge if

 Let’s create contact . Make sure that the model is the same as given in the
deduplication rule form.

 Now save the form and create two records having duplicate values for the fields mentioned
in deduplication rules.

 Now if you come back to the data cleaning module and click DEDUPLICATE button inside the
form. A new page will be shown with the rules on the left side and the corresponding duplicated
datas are also shown with the created date, Name, field values, model in which it is used, ID,
ismaster.

 Here similarity percentage is also shown, so this helps users to make decision whether those
records need to be merged or discarded . After merging the records duplicated records will be
merged to single one.

 There is one more feature in data cleaning module ie.Field cleaning.Go to -
Configuration - Field cleaning

 Same as we create deduplication rule we can create field cleaning rule that helps to clean fields
in a model by trimming spaces between the letters, setting type case, format phone, scrap html.

 Spaces can be trimmed by removing all spaces or only superfluous spaces . Field
cleaning can also be done manually and automatically on a particular model.

 Specify your rules for field cleaning

 create your contact name with space .ie; according to your rule specified

 When you click CLEAN button inside the form it displays all the fields that need to be cleaned
with details such as Record ID, records name, field, current(current value of the field),
suggested(suggested value for the field). Looking at these details we can validate or discard
the cleaning process.
