  2. INTRODUCTION ❖ Odoo Accounting Journal Entries: An accounting journal is a record of transaction exchanges requested by date, these transactions are recorded in the name of journal entries. ❖ Each journal entry shows account names and their credits and debit values.
  3. ❖ In Odoo we can create different types of journals. ❖ Sales, Purchase, cash, Bank, and Miscellaneous. ❖ Each journal types have different rules:- ● Sales journal used to post sent customer invoices ● Purchase journal used to post received vendor bills ● Cash type journal used to track daily cash transactions as well as the received customer payments ● Bank for posting your bank statements, track customer or vendor payments and all other transactions recorded by your associated bank account ● The last one is Miscellaneous journal type, it is used for anything that doesn’t fit into the above types.
  4. ❖ To configure the journals go to Invoice > Configuration > Journals.
  5. ❖ Here you will be able to see the list of the default journals created be odoo. All the journals present here comes under the basic 5 types Sales, Purchase, cash, Bank, and miscellaneous.
  6. ❖ At first let’s discuss about the journal type Sales. Under Journal Entries you have an option to add the Default Income Account, Dedicated Credit Note Sequence, etc.
  7. ❖ Under Advanced Settings you have an option to add the Control-Access, Payment Informations, etc.
  8. ❖ Next journal type Purchase. Under Journal Entries you have an option to add the Default Income Account, Dedicated Credit Note Sequence, etc.
  9. ❖ Under Advanced Settings you have an option to add the Allowed account types, Allowed accounts, etc.
  10. ❖ Next journal type Cash. Under Journal Entries you have an option to add the Default Income Account, Dedicated Credit Note Sequence, etc.
  11. ❖ Under Payment Configuration you have an option to add the Incoming Payment Method and Outgoing Incoming Payment Method.
  12. ❖ Under Advanced Settings you have an option to add the Allowed account types, Allowed accounts, etc.
  13. ❖ Next journal type Bank. Under Journal Entries you have an option to add the Bank Account, Suspense Account, etc.
  14. ❖ Under Payment Configuration you have an option to add the Outstanding Payment Accounts, Payment Methods, etc.
  15. ❖ Under Advanced Settings you have an option to add the Allowed account types, Allowed accounts, etc.
  16. ❖ Last journal type Miscellaneous. Under Journal Entries you need to enter the journal Short Code.
