Step 1: Connect SPE Gateway to your network

  1. 1. SPE Gateway Quick Installation Guide Step 1: Connect SPE Gateway to your network A.First, plug the AC adaptor to the rear panel of SPE Gateway, then plug the AC adaptor to your power socket. Red Power LED on the front panel of SPE Gateway will keep shining, yellow ACTIVE LED keep flickering. B. Plug a network cable into WAN port on the rear panel of SPE Gateway, and connect this cable to your DSL/Cable modem. Indicator light on WAN port of SPE Gateway will keep shining when you connect it correctly.
  2. 2. C. Plug another network cable into LAN port on the rear panel of SPE Gateway, and connect this cable to your computer’s network adaptor. Indicator light on LAN port of SPE Gateway will keep shining when you connect it correctly.
  3. 3. Caution: To reset SPE Gateway to factory setting or listen the IVR, please follow these steps: 1. Do NOT disconnect the power of SPE Gateway, 2. Press the reset button and keep pressing for 5 seconds at least, SPE Gateway will reboot and reset to factory setting. 3. Press reset button for 1 second, you can here WAN IP address and telephone number of that SPE Gateway. Step 2: Connect another computer to SPE Gateway Connect another computer to LAN port on rear panel of SPE Gateway using another network cable. If you have/wish to connect more than 1 computer to internet, you may use a HUB/Switch to connect to LAN port on rear panel of SPE Gateway, and then you may connect the computer(s) to your HUB/Switch. After you finished those 2 steps, your network topology may like the picture list below:
  4. 4. Step 3: Setup your computer’s network settings A.Right click the My Network Places and select properties by using you mouse. B. Right click the local connection and select properties in the window C. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click properties.
  5. 5. D.Fill in the IP address: 172.16.0.2; Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0; Default Gateway: 172.16.0.1; for DNS Server, please ask your local internet service provider, we will use Shenzhen DNS server IP address: 202.96.134.133.
  6. 6. E. Click OK to save the changes, and then click start menu, and click run, then fill in ping 172.16.0.1 –t in run command. If there is no error, you may see the picture like blow.
  7. 7. Step4: Configures and Administrate your SPE Gateway A.Open your favorite WEB explorer, then fill in http://172.16.0.1 in the explorer’s address bar and press ENTER. B. Using username admin and password admin when prompt and click OK button. C. Login successfully, you will redirect to Home page of SPE Gateway.
  8. 8. D.Set a new password for your SPE Gateway. Click change password button to set a new password for non-administrate user. To set a new password for administrator, please click service provider button, then click change password. Click change password button, you may set a new password for administrator.
  9. 9. Step 5: Select the internet connection type for your SPE Gateway Click WAN button. A.If you wish to use DHCP, please follow these steps.
  10. 10. Click submit button to save the changes. B. If you wish to use a static IP address, please check the radio button before STATIC IP. Fill in all the forms such as IP address and DNS ETC. according to your network administrator or your ISP, then click submit button to save the changes. C.Select PPPoE if you are using an ADSL Modem.
  11. 11. Fill in the username and passwords your ISP provide you, and then click submit to save the modification. Step 6: Setup an IP phone number for your SPE Gateway. A. Select Service Provider -> Service Provider
  12. 12. Fill in all the information given by your service provider carefully, then click submit button. B. Select Service Provider -> Login account Fill in the telephone number, login username and password given by your service provider, then click submit button. B. Voice -> FXS Port Setting
  13. 13. These options just bind Line, Service Provider, and Login Number. After bind, click submit button.
  14. 14. Step 7: Configure AVMP for your SPE Gateway Click AVMP button in service page. Fill in your AVMP IP address and click enable, then click submit button.
  15. 15. Step 8: Reboot your SPE Gateway to make the changes take effect SPE will reboot by click Save&Reboot button. Step 9: Test your internet connection. When you finish all the steps above, status of your SPE should be: A.Red Power LED keep shining, yellow ACTIVE LED keep flickering, blue PHONE0 and/or PHONE1 LED keep shining (Depends on the type of your SPE Gateway) B. Re-Open your favorite explorer and browser your website to check the internet connection.

Here is a mini how-to to setup your computer to obtain an IP address by using SPE Gateway. To users who was using Microsoft Windows XP: Right click network neighborhood icon, select properties. Right click local connection and select properties in NETWORK CONNECTION window.
