The CLIO Awards has a new Strategic Communications/Public Relations awards category to recognize excellence and creativity in the industry.

This new CLIO Awards category will celebrate innovative and creative use of any form of unpaid publicity and messaging that drives credibility, awareness, reputation, and relationships between a company or organization and its consumers or constituents.

THE CLIO AWARDS STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS / PUBLIC RELATIONS AWARD CATEGORY <ul><li>Recognizing and celebrating great work in the field of public relations </li></ul><ul><li>Campaigns or efforts to be considered include those in the area of arts and entertainment, cause-related/ non-profit, corporate branding, multicultural, international and new media </li></ul><ul><li>Judged by an Executive Jury comprised of prominent Public Relations executives </li></ul>
  3. 3. ENTRIES WILL BE JUDGED WITHIN THREE BROAD CATEGORIES: <ul><li>Consumer </li></ul><ul><li>Corporate </li></ul><ul><li>Crisis Management </li></ul>
  4. 4. Consumer Category <ul><li>Recognizing successful PR campaigns… </li></ul><ul><li>In the arts and entertainment industry (i.e., film, newspapers, books, TV shows, websites) </li></ul><ul><li>Focused around a charity, non-profit, or social cause in relation to a company, product or service </li></ul><ul><li>In the launch or re-launch of a new consumer brand product or service (this includes technology) </li></ul><ul><li>For any type of global campaign (consumer, healthcare, technology) in one or more countries outside of the U.S. </li></ul><ul><li>Focused toward multicultural groups, specifically regarding race, sex, and origins </li></ul><ul><li>Using new media to create or support a PR campaign (web casts, blogging, mobile, podcasts, social networks) </li></ul>

Corporate Category <ul><li>Recognizing the success of… </li></ul><ul><li>A launch or re-launch of a company and its corporate identity to the target audience </li></ul><ul><li>Research conducted by a PR team in order to set goals for an upcoming campaign, and evaluating how the campaign was measured (ROI) </li></ul>

Who Can Enter <ul><li>Entries are open to for-profit and non-profit organizations involved in the management of information exchange between an organization and its public such as: </li></ul><ul><li>Public Relations </li></ul><ul><li>Public Affairs </li></ul><ul><li>Publicity </li></ul><ul><li>Associations </li></ul><ul><li>Government </li></ul><ul><li>Non-government organizations </li></ul>

Steps to Entering Your Work <ul><li>Complete online entry form on </li></ul><ul><li>Click on Strategic Communications/Public Relations Category </li></ul><ul><li>Click REGISTER to begin entry process </li></ul><ul><li>Entry Fees can be found under the ENTRIES tab </li></ul><ul><li>Submit binder with hard copies of work to the New York office by March 2, 2009 – NOTE: FINAL DEADLINE </li></ul>

Execution Synopsis </li></ul><ul><li>5. Results </li></ul><ul><li>Please also include a short, 100 to 300 word synopsis in the space provided on the online entry form. </li></ul><ul><li>Portions may be used to describe your entry at the Communications Awards if selected to win a CLIO. </li></ul>

Binder Requirements <ul><li>The binder should be letter-sized (8 1/2” X 11” OR A4), three-ringed, hardcover and no more than three inches (7.6 cm) thick </li></ul><ul><li>The exterior of the binder should have no type, images or identifying marks </li></ul><ul><li>This detailed information should be in tabbed sections labeled according to contents </li></ul>
  12. 12. For International Entries <ul><li>For judging purposes, submitting your entry in English is strongly recommended.  If your entry is not in English, you must also provide an English translation in the box under the “Foreign Language Entry” section of the entry form. </li></ul>
