How to Complete the ThinkShow! Statement of Purpose

  2. 2. Filling out theStatement of Purpose Before we get started. It is a good idea to have some of your upcoming lesson plans handy. Look over the 3rd nine weeks curriculum maps and consider possible topics for your students.
  3. 3. Filling out theStatement of PurposeNow, its time to choose a TN Department of Education Standard that your project will be grounded in. If you need help locating standards please visit the Tennessee Department of Education Website by clicking the link below:TN Department of Education

Filling out theStatement of Purpose As a High School Teacher you must choose one or two College and Career-Ready Writing Anchor Standards or College and Career- Ready Speaking and Listening Anchor Standards to address through the projects this year. The simplest way to choose would be from the ThinkShow! MCS Letter to Teachers located on the “Resources Page”. Click the graphic to the right to navigate there, now or use the button on the Schools Home Page.
  5. 5. Filling out theStatement of Purpose The Common Core Standards featured on the next two slides are taken from The ThinkShow! MCS Letter to Teachers. This can be found on the Resources Page of the School’s Website. They are broad and can easily fit your project with a well tailored research question:
  6. 6. Filling out theStatement of Purpose College and Career-Ready Writing Anchor Standards ( Letter to Teachers, Page 3 - ) 6. Use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish writing and to interact and collaborate with others. 7. Conduct short as well as more sustained research projects based on focused questions, demonstrating understanding of the subject under investigation.

Integrate and evaluate information presented in diverse media and formats, including visually, quantitatively, and orally. 5. Make strategic use of digital media and visual displays of data to express information and enhance understanding of presentations. 6. Adapt speech to a variety of contexts and communicative tasks, demonstrating command of formal English when indicated or appropriate.
  8. 8. Filling out theStatement of Purpose After you make your decision on the Common Core State Standard the projects will address. Indicate it on the ThinkShow! Project Statement of Purpose in the appropriate space provided. This form can be found on the Resources Page.
  9. 9. Filling out theStatement of Purpose Now, its time to come up with a Research Question or Questions the projects will explore and/or answer. Then indicate it on the Project Statement of Purpose.

Filling out theStatement of Purpose The next step is to share more details of the project by explaining how the students have/will demonstrated their understanding of the Common Core State Standard and how it relates to your research question and include it on the Project Statement of Purpose.
