  4. Background and Purpose of the Project Due to the rapid growth of the economy, energy consumption in Indonesia is increasing. Further development of oil and gas fields in Indonesia is required. However, some of gas fields in Indonesia contain relatively high CO2 gas and its emission into the atmosphere is not appropriate for global warming perspectives. By applying CCS technology to Gundih gas field that has high CO2 proportion, we would like to propose a sophisticated CCS technology during the gas production. In order to predict CO2 distribution after the injection, several monitoring technologies should be developed.

  9. To stop global warming • It will take ① increased energy efficiency; ② increased renewable energy; and ③ the decarbonisation of power generation from fossil fuels. • The only technology available to mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from large- scale fossil fuel usage is CO2 capture and storage (CCS). 11. Gundih Carbon Capture and Storage Pilot Project: Current Status of the First CCS Project in South and Southeast Asian Regions ✓ The Gundih gas field in Central Java has been in operation since the end of 2013. The produced gas is expected ~60 million standard cubic feet of gas per day over the next decade. The CO2 content of the produced gas is ~21%.

  14. ✓ After processing at the Central Processing Plant, around 15% of the CO2 is separated into an almost pure CO2 stream equivalent to ~800 tons per day of CO2. To date, the separated CO2 has been flared into the atmosphere. ✓ The Gundih Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) pilot project will inject around 30 tons of CO2 per day over a two year period (for total injection of ~20,000 tons).
