  2. 2. Introduction The stock exchange is a very exciting kind of investing money. Every day, lots of investors around the world trade money in different stock markets.

Introduction » Objective W e will try to explain the big advantages and disadvantages that stock market has for investors in Guayaquil, and try to compare the NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) with the GSE (Guayaquil Stock Exchange) in many aspects such as trading amounts, services offered, etc.
  4. 4. What is the Stock Exchange? A stock Market is a market place for buying and selling shares . Only listed companies are able to issue shares in the stock market. Brokers and any person can buy and sell their own shares. When any person buys a share from a company it becomes a shareholder.
  5. 5. What does “going public” mean? "Going public" means when a company sells shares of its stock to the public for the first time. Prior to going public, a company contacts an investment bank to advise them about how many shares to offer and the price of the shares.

There is a standards list for US Companies as well as Non-US Companies, which include evaluated issues about earnings, operating cash flow, etc.

  19. 19. Conclusions The GSE can’t exist if the investors stop trading in the Stock Exchange. Again, our conclusion, is that the GSE must establish marketing and advertising campaigns showing the big advantages that investing in the Stock Market has.
