Buy some time: stay silence for a couple of seconds and then say a generic sentence such as “say “hmmm…that’s an interesting question. Let me play it back to you to make sure that my understanding is correct” 2. Rephrase the case: “So basically what you’re saying is that…is that right?” 3. Ask clarifying question: “Can I ask some background questions before I get started?...what do you mean by...”. Don’t assume anything. Different companies use different vocabulary. Asking clarifying question will demonstrate your professionalism and not your ignorance 3 Key Steps

Describe the key component of the framework: ”To understand why the profit is falling, I need to look at 2 key things: First the company’s revenue and second the company’s cost 4.
