  3. 3. Organization<br />The goal is not to be “organized.”<br />
  4. 4. Productive Organization<br />The goal is to be productive. Get the right things done. Make your brain work less, not more.<br />
  5. 5. A productive organization system has these four elements.<br />Input<br />Processing<br />Output<br />Maintenance<br />
  6. 6. Input<br />Input=Collecting everything that comes at you.<br />
  7. 7. We all deal with a rainstorm of to-dos.<br />
  8. 8. Install funnels to collect that rain and get it into barrels you can use.<br />
  9. 9. Collect everything, and O-H-I-O: Only Handle It Once<br />
  10. 10. This especially includes emails.<br />
  11. 11. Pay attention to<br />YOURSELF<br />When you’re collecting, don’t forget to collect what you really want to do, too!<br />
  12. 12. Processing<br />Processing=Deciding what to do with the things that come in<br />
  13. 13. Delete<br />Delegate<br />Deposit<br />Do<br />There are four things you can do with any item.<br />
  14. 14. Break it<br />down<br />into<br />steps<br />Don’t let the big projects be intimidating!<br />
  15. 15. Don’t just use a to-do list: break up the list by where you need to be in order to do it.<br />@Home<br />@Computer<br />@Office<br />@Errands<br />@Phone<br />
  16. 16. Output<br />Output=Choosing what to do, and when to do it.<br />
  17. 17. Effective<br />not<br />Efficient<br />The goal isn’t to do the most things, it’s to do the most important things.<br />
  18. 18. Identify<br />the<br />Most<br />Important<br />Tasks<br />Choose 2 or 3 tasks (at most) to focus on in one day/workday.<br />
