EnviroInsite training workshop - Creating cross-sections

  1. 1. Cross Sections and Intro to 3d EnviroInsite Training Workshop HydroAnalysis, Inc.
  2. 2. Cross-Sections • Cross-sections can contain: contours, wells, borings, radial diagrams, stiff diagrams, data tables, time history graphs, polylines, geologic models … Cross-Sections and 3d
  3. 3. Cross-Sections • Defined by drawing polyline • Number of turning points unlimited • Not necessarily from well-to-well • Specified clip distance (aka “capture distance”) Cross-Sections and 3d
  4. 4. Cross-Sections • Ground Surface interpolated from either  Surface Elevation values in Wells table  x,y,z values in text file Cross-Sections and 3d
  5. 5. Cross-Sections • Bottom Surface is either  Flat line  Interpolated from x,y,z values in text file Cross-Sections and 3d
  6. 6. 3d vs. Plan Mode • Plan view – each object overlies previously drawn Plan View • 3d View – objects drawn from perspective of viewer 3d View EnviroInsite Training
  7. 7. 3d View Controls • Any plan view can be rotated into 3d • Render mode effects appearance  Wire – plan mode  Shade – 3d w/o transparency  Render – 3d transparency EnviroInsite Training
  8. 8. 3d Lighting Model • Light Sources  Intensity  Direction Vectory  Elev. < 0 – downward  Easting > 0 (afternoon sun from west) EnviroInsite Training
