Old Age

  1. 1. You don’t stop laughing because you grow old. You grow old because you stop laughing. Grow up not old When your friends begin to flatter you on how young you look, it’s a sure sign you’re getting old. No age has a monopoly on success, any age it the right age to start doing. Life would be infinitely happier if we could only be born at the age of eighty and gradually approach eighteen A woman who tells her age is either too young to have anything to lose or too old to have anything to gain Age is not important – unless you’re a cheese Cherish all your happy moments; they make a fine cushion for old age. 27MC
  2. 2. A person is always startled when he hears himself called old for the first time. One sign of maturity is the ability to be comfortable with people who are not like us. Old age does not protect you from love. But love, to some extent, protects you from age. Few people know how to be old Old age has it’s pleasures, which, though different are not less than the pleasures of youth. When I was a child of 14 my father was so ignorant I could hardly stand to have the old man around. But when I got to be 21 I was astonished at how much he had learned in 7 years. (Mark Twain) 27MC
  3. 3. The worst old age is that of the mind To be happy, we must be true to nature, and carry our age along with us. Maturity is that time when the mirrors in our mind turn to windows, and instead of seeing the reflection of ourselves we see others. To know how to grow old is the master work of wisdom, and one of the most difficult chapters in the great art of living. To keep the heart unwrinkled, to be hopeful, kindly, cheerful, and reverent, is to triumph over old age. 27MC
  4. 4. The really frightening thing about middle-age is that you know that you’ll grow out of it. Old age is at least 10 years older than yourself. There are people whose watch stops at a certain hour and who remain permanently at that age You are young at any age if you are planning for tomorrow. It is not by the grey in the hair that one can tell the age of the heart. It’s better to be old-fashioned and RIGHT Than to be up-to-date and WRONG 27MC
