  2. 2. INTRODUCTIONThe TPI or teaching perspective inventories are perspectives that can be dominant orpoor.Teaching perspectives help teachers to understand and apply better their profiles. Ifteachers know what their perspectives are, they can adequate their teaching according tothe content and the way students learn. The purpose of TPI is to measure 5 perspectiveswhich are: Transmission, Apprenticeship, Developmental, Nurturing and Social Reform. These perspectives can help teachers to collect their thoughts and summarize their ideasand beliefs about teaching. They can be useful in examining your own teaching as well ashelping clarify the teaching views of other people. In order to know your TeachingPerspectives you have to take an on line questionnaire that contains 45 questions.

  5. 5. © Pratt & Collins 2001, Web Version: 2.0,August 2001A Scoring Profile for the TeachingPerspectives InventoryAccording to the results, I have a dominant Apprenticeship perspective. This means thatgood teachers are highly skilled at what they teach. Whether in classrooms or at worksites, they are recognized for their expertise. Teachers must reveal the inner workings ofskilled performance and must now translate it into accessible language and an ordered setof tasks. Teachers focus the teaching in developing students skills. Also I have found that I got recessive teaching perspectives CONCLUSIONTPI are very important to know because in that way teachers can be aware of theirbeliefs in teaching. They can apply them in real situations.
