  3. 3. <ul><li>2006 Started with only DanChurchAid & DANIDA </li></ul><ul><li>Total budget was $ 391,000 </li></ul><ul><li>2007 Added ELCA plus ACT appeal </li></ul><ul><li>Total $ 954,000 </li></ul><ul><li>2008 Added Church World Service </li></ul><ul><li>Total $ 1,424,000 </li></ul><ul><li>2009 Added ALWS, FCA </li></ul><ul><li>Total $ 1,600,000 </li></ul><ul><li>Still actively looking for EC funds!! </li></ul>LWF in collaboration with CNEB Current Donors - Burundi

  5. 5. <ul><li>Built on existing successful donor partnerships/relations. </li></ul><ul><li>Developed a unique crossborder program. </li></ul><ul><li>Built on successful lessons learnt from other LWF country programs like the TCRS -Tanzania and Nepal. </li></ul><ul><li>A different mind set (relief vs development) (empowerment vs aid) </li></ul><ul><li>Successful implementation of Phase 1 resulting in a positive evaluation which created further donor interest. </li></ul>LWF in collaboration with CNEB PROGRAM EXPERIENCE

(step in their shoes) </li></ul><ul><li>Comply with donor regulations (THE BASICS!!! respect reporting deadline, audits etc.. ) </li></ul><ul><li>Networking & information sharing </li></ul><ul><li>Active follow up of possible Funds. Don’t waste time with not attainable funds. Get the inside scoop! (intelligence) </li></ul><ul><li>Invest. </li></ul>MUST DO

LWF in collaboration with CNEB <ul><li>Not easy!!! </li></ul><ul><li>The main potential local based donors are: UNHCR,UNDP, FAO, EU, USAID and Embassies. </li></ul><ul><li>It is not easy to secure funding from local based donors: </li></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>They have existing links with operational partners. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>We are not a francophone NGO. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><li>No large Lutheran presence (which provoke LWF related agencies interests) </li></ul>Burundi Fund raising CHALLENGES

(renewal process) </li></ul><ul><li>(maybe it is time to specialize, sector or type of interventions) </li></ul><ul><li>Retool for current trends. ( reaffirming steps already taken by LWF/DWS but we must go further!!) </li></ul><ul><li>b) Consolidate. Close the none viable programmes!! Better to do a few good jobs than to do many poorly. </li></ul><ul><li>c) Invest . Must spend money to make money! (Budget development funds) </li></ul>General Recommendation
