  5. 5. Your hands are a bit tied (if you refuse to make certain changes the publisher may not want to work with you) </li></ul>
  6. 6. EDITING: Indie <ul>Advantages: <li>Complete control over your project
  7. 7. Disadvantages:
  8. 8. Professional editing services can be expensive
  9. 9. You are totally responsible for the content </li></ul>
  10. 10. BOOK COVER: Traditional <ul>Advantages: <li>You have an entire art department behind you
  11. 11. Disadvantages:
  12. 12. You have little to no say over your book cover
  13. 13. A terrible cover can hurt sales </li></ul>
  14. 14. BOOK COVER: Indie <ul>Advantages: <li>Gimp is a free, easy to use program
  15. 15. Complete control over your own cover
  16. 16. Disadvantages:
  17. 17. Making your own cover can be hard
  18. 18. Professional graphic artists can be expensive </li></ul>
  19. 19. STORY CONTENT: Traditional <ul>Advantages: <li>Professionals can keep you from making a huge mistake

  30. 30. Most publishers spend the money on famous writers

  32. 32. MARKETING: Indie <ul>Advantage: <li>It's your baby, and you want it to succeed

  34. 34. It's hard to do it all yourself
  35. 35. If you don't have the funds, marketing becomes even harder </li></ul>

  38. 38. How much time do you have to devote to marketing?
