4. Page (DCI) Access …
• Pre-4.6 user access could be controlled by:
– Study level security
– Study Site level security
• V 4 6 also allows access at DCI (form) level
V.4.6
– At User Role level
• Default user role settings at installation level
– Either completely RESTRICTED or UNRESTRICTED
– Can override at study level for any user role
Note: if you create new user roles, you must define the
default DCI access for every role you plan to use or
that role will not be able to log in to RDC Onsite
OHSUG 2011 4
5. DCI Access …
• Installation level: for each user role, define
access as either:
– UNRESTRICTED – all DCIs visible to the user
– RESTRICTED – no DCI visible to the user
– for each role, OC sets default to UNRESTRICTED
• Study level: specify the exceptions:
– for User Roles with UNRESTRICTED access, you
EXCLUDE certain DCIs from their access
– for User Roles with RESTRICTED access, you
INCLUDE certain DCIs they can access
OHSUG 2011 5
6. Conditional Branching in Onsite …
• Conditional Branching previously available
only in Character DE (OC & RDC Classic)
– Not available in Onsite (except Indicator
Question functionality) until v.4.6
• Setup in OC: DCM Question definition and
DCM Graphic Layout
– DCM Question definition uses same screens used
by character mode conditional branching
• Options of “hiding” or “greying out” the
hiding greying out
disabled questions
– Admin level setting can be overridden for study
OHSUG 2011 6
7. Enhanced DCI Books…
• Support for Flexible Studies
– Can use Enhanced DCI Books to take advantage of
the features, even if not a Flexible Design study
• Page Tracking not supported
g g pp
• Data-Triggered Rules
–Specify data responses that determine which CRFs,
CPEs, and/or Intervals are expected for each patient
• Copying
–Copy pages from one CPE to another

9. Extended Text …
• Extended Text Qs support lengthy freeform
text responses
– up to 10,000 characters
– Lengthy comments or narratives
• Cannot display full text in most places
– Q Length you define determines number of
characters displayed in these places
– OC, RDC Classic, Onsite discrepancy details, RDC

– System reserves the first 24 characters for the
attachment prefix

10. Extended Text …
• Attachment Prefix
– ATTACHMENT V<x.y>:
– X = version number: number of consecutively
different changes saved in Onsite
– Y = subversion number: number of times focus
leaves the ET field but before ‘save’. (used for
internal auditing only)
• ET fields denoted by yellow note icon in RDC
– Icon not displayed in Graphic Layout Editor
– Be sure to leave space for it (~15 points)
• Once field has data, DEW displays the
