Commentary of photographs

  1. 1. Commentary I asked my model if he could make an angry expression to show he was aggressive towards the pad holder. I also told him to grab Charlie’s arm to again show aggression. I got them to hold the pose to make the shot easier rather than him running in and hitting the pad. This could have caused injury and damage to them or the objects in the room.Shooting detailsLocation: Priestley college This image works well to advertise Titanium(PA-16) Energy as it shows aggression, and strengthTime/Date: 1:30pm as he performs the tackle. This fits in with5/12/2012 the idea of a rugby player.Lighting conditions: Indoors, There are some faults with the original5 photograph:lights shining from differentangles •The outer border would need cropping outCamera: Canon EOS 1100D so this can be easily done in photo shop.Aperture: F5.8Shutter speed: 1/60 •The black background makes it lookShort depth of field unrealistic so I could again use photo shop to make it look appropriate to the action in the foreground.
  2. 2. Commentary I asked my model to grip the ball as tight as he could and have an aggressive expression. This picture is an example of symmetry although the ball isn’t quite the same on either side. But I eventually used photo shop to edit out the writing and brands.Shooting details This image works well to advertiseLocation: Priestley college because it shows him gripping the ball(PA-16) tightly. This has connotations of strengthTime/Date: 1:30pm which then shows titanium energy.5/12/2012Lighting conditions: There are some faults with the originalIndoors, 4 photograph:lights shining fromdifferent angles •The brands on the ball and on the shirtCamera: Canon EOS 1100D had to be photo shopped which meant IAperture: F5.8 had more work to do when it came toShutter speed: 1/160 adding it into my brochure.Short depth of field
  3. 3. Commentary For this picture I had to ask a friend to pass the ball to my model to create an action shot that would be seen in a rugby game. This was to make the energy drink more believable and appeal more to the audience. I cropped the blue from the left edge in photo shop.Shooting detailsLocation: Priestley college This image works well to advertise my(PA-16) brand because the action shot relatesTime/Date: 1:30pm to the sport that is being performed in5/12/2012 the photo.Lighting conditions:Indoors, 4 There are some faults with the originallights shining from photograph:different anglesCamera: Canon EOS 1100D •The image is slightly blurred so IAperture: F3.5 would have to use photo shop to editShutter speed: 1/200 the levels and make blend it in with theShort depth of field surrounding background.
  4. 4. Commentary For this photo I got my model to lie down on the floor and put his hand just above the ball to create the effect he was scoring a try. I also made the ball the main focus. I cropped the blue out from the right edge show it wouldn’t spoil the photo.Shooting details This image works well to advertise myLocation: Priestley college brand because even though it is in a(PA-16) room it looks like a realistic action shotTime/Date: 1:30pm which adds to the effect.5/12/2012Lighting conditions: There are some faults with the originalIndoors, 4 photograph:lights shining fromdifferent angles •The brand of the ball is clearly shownCamera: Canon EOS 1100D and is hard to edit out.Aperture: F4Shutter speed: 1/200 •The ball is dirty so its hard to get aShort depth of field smooth white colour all over the ball.
  5. 5. Commentary For this picture I got my model on the floor and told him to put his hand out as if he was reaching for the can. This can have bad connotations of the model becoming addicted to the energy drink but the main purpose is him going beyond his maximum level of performance.Shooting detailsLocation: Priestley college This image works well to advertise my(PA-16) brand because it shows he is going outTime/Date: 1:30pm of his comfort zone to get the energy5/12/2012 drink which is shown in the picture.Lighting conditions:Indoors, 4 There are some faults with the originallights shining from photograph:different anglesCamera: Canon EOS 1100D •The models left hand is covering hisAperture: F4.5 face so you cannot see his facialShutter speed: 1/200 expression.Short depth of field
  6. 6. Commentary In this photo I asked my model to turn on an angle and turn his head so he was looking at the camera. This resembled a pose rugby players do for sports clothing brands. This image works well advertising my product because it relates to the mainShooting details audience of my energy drink, sportsLocation: Priestley college athletes.(PA-16)Time/Date: 1:30pm There are some faults with the original5/12/2012 photograph:Lighting conditions:Indoors, 4 •There is not a lot going on in thelights shining from photographdifferent anglesCamera: Canon EOS 1100D •I would have to crop the ripples in theAperture: F5.6 infinity wall so this would increase myShutter speed: 1/100 work load.Short depth of field
  7. 7. Commentary In this photograph I asked a friend to pass the ball to the model for him to catch. My idea was to create an action shot. I had to get the height of the camera right so I was inline with the pass and the catch. I also had to take the picture at the right time and I also had to set the camera’s shutter speed to a very fast speed. I set this to theShooting details maximum in this model of cameraLocation: Priestley college which is 1/4000.(PA-16)Time/Date: 1:30pm This image works well to advertise my5/12/2012 product because it relates to my mainLighting conditions: audience which is sports. Also thisIndoors, 4 action shot helps to sell the product aslights shining from again it relates to my audience.different anglesCamera: Canon EOS 1100D There are some faults with the originalAperture: F3.5 photograph:Shutter speed: 1/200Short depth of field •The model’s facial expression is very strange so there would be no way of
  8. 8. Commentary In this image I got my model to throw the ball up and down to create an action shot. I thought this image came out really well. The surrounding lights radiate against his skin and makes his face stand out on the black back screen.Shooting details This photograph works well advertisingLocation: Priestley college my image because the right colours(PA-16) stand out on the black back screen.Time/Date: 1:30pm This would appeal to the audience5/12/2012 because it would catch their eye.Lighting conditions:Indoors, 4 There are some faults with the originallights shining from photograph:different anglesCamera: Canon EOS 1100D •When the photo is blown up it has aAperture: F3.5 poor picture quality so this is theShutter speed: 1/200 reason I didn’t use this in my brochure.Short depth of field
  9. 9. Commentary For this image I asked my model to get on the floor and put his hand on the ball as if he was scoring a try. The image came out good and the white ball really stood out and contrasted against the black screen. This image works well advertising myShooting details product because the action shot relatesLocation: Priestley college to my main audience of sports athletes.(PA-16) Also the model’s facial expressionsTime/Date: 1:30pm show the energy drink has worked so5/12/2012 the audience are drawn in to believingLighting conditions: it works and buying it.Indoors, 4lights shining from There are some faults with the originaldifferent angles photograph:Camera: Canon EOS 1100DAperture: F4.5 •You cant see the model’s face very soShutter speed: 1/50 this affects the appeal of the product toShort depth of field the auience.
  10. 10. Commentary For this image I got the model on the floor and told him to hold his hand out as if he was reaching for a can of Titanium energy. This would appeal to the audience and make them want to buy the product. I had to get down on the floor and rest the front of the camera on my phone so I could get theShooting details model’s whole head in the shot.Location: Priestley college(PA-16) This image does well to advertise myTime/Date: 1:30pm product because with the model5/12/2012 reaching for the can it shows he mustLighting conditions: have it so the audience could feel theIndoors, 4 same way.lights shining fromdifferent angles There are some faults with the originalCamera: Canon EOS 1100D photograph:Aperture: F4.5Shutter speed: 1/200 •The audience could think he isShort depth of field addicted and this could change peoples attitude towards Titanium energy.
