Summary <ul><ul><li>Web 2.0 tools have opened the door for collaboration and expanded opportunities for teaching and learning. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>How to immerse educators in technology has not always followed an easy path </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>This workshop seeks to expose educators to new Web 2.0 tools and share how they can be integrated into regular classroom practice. </li></ul></ul>

What, why, and for whom? <ul><ul><li>This end of year workshop explores a variety of free Web 2.0 tools available to educators. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Participants will learn how to use Web 2.0 tools by creating with Web 2.0 tools. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The need for this workshop rises from desired  goal of narrowing the achievement gap and technology desert by bridging out-of- school practice with in-school use. </li></ul></ul>

Tools to support educators <ul><ul><li>Educators are ready for the next wave of technology integration and need training. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>New technology opportunities are available over the web at no cost. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Research shows increased student engagement and motivation with Web 2.0 tools leads to new learning which reaches a multitude of learning styles and modalities. </li></ul></ul>

Platform and Application: Google Sites <ul><ul><li>This workshop will use Google Sites </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Activities will launch from the facilitator's web page which immerses participants in a variety of tools </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Web 2.0 tools explored include Glogster, Photopeach, Blogger, Wikispaces, Google Docs </li></ul></ul>

Activities <ul><ul><li>Creating a personal story with Web 2.0 tool </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Discussing tools and their integration using Google Docs </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Articles and tutorials linked within website </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Classroom website, whole group Google Doc, grade level team Google Doc, individual blog or wiki </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Final project </li></ul></ul>

Criteria for Successful Completion <ul><ul><li>Each participant will actively engage in weekly discussions, responding to facilitator's prompt and colleagues input. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The workshop will enlighten members on Web 2.0 tools and will allow time for creating and collaboration for classroom use. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Participants will use Google Sites to create a website, Google Doc, and blog or wiki. The final project will involve integration of new tools into a lesson plan. </li></ul></ul>
