  20. 20. Do I need to know the address of Israeli organizations I’ve recommended for support? No. In the online portal, just enter “Jerusalem” and NIF will do the rest. The Progressive Jewish Fund 21
  21. 21. Do I need to keep a minimum amount in my PJF DAF? No — so long as the balance in your fund can pay the low annual management fee or $100 (whichever is less). No — but if your account is inactive for 3 years, we’ll want to chat. The Progressive Jewish Fund 22

  24. 24. Criteria for Grant-Making ■ Compliance with the laws of the State of Israel (if an Israeli organization) or the United States (if a U.S. organization). ■ Alignment with the principles of the New Israel Fund and compliance with its policies and procedures. The Progressive Jewish Fund 25
  25. 25. Criteria for Grant-Making (cont’d) ■ Nonprofit status and evidence of good standing: a. Registration as a 501(c)3 organization or an amuta; b. Publicly available bylaws; c. Audited financial reports; d. Confirmation or proper accounting procedures as required by tax authorities and possession of a certificate of tax-withholding at source for Israeli grantees.   26. 26. The Progressive Jewish Fund 27 If criteria for grant-making are met, an organization is eligible to receive grants unless the organization: 1. Engages in activities at odds with the positions, principles, or vision of the New Israel Fund. 2. Participates in partisan political activity. 3. Promotes anti-democratic values. 4. Supports the 1967 occupation and subsequent settlement activity. 5. Violates the human rights of any group or individual, advocates for human rights selectively for one group over another and/or rejects the principle of the universality of human rights. 6. Condones or promotes violence or uses violent tactics. Disqualifying Criteria
  27. 27. The Progressive Jewish Fund 28 If criteria for grant-making are met, an organization is eligible to receive grants unless the organization: 7. Employs racist or derogatory language, or designations about any group based on their religion, race, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation. 8. Works to deny the right of the Jewish people to sovereign self-determination within Israel, or to deny the rights of Palestinian Israelis or other non-Jewish citizens to full equality within a democratic Israel. 9. Participates in or promotes global BDS activities against Israel; however, support for organizations that lawfully discourage the purchase of goods or use of services from Jewish settlements in the Occupation Territories is not grounds for disqualification.
