Seminar on ‘Challenges of Technical Education in Kerala’
Kerala has several firsts to its credit. It is the most literate State in the country. It is also the first State to
fulfill the constitutional mandate of providing universal, free, primary education to all the children up to
the age of fourteen years. In 1991 Kerala has achieved the distinction of the first State in India to be
declared as 100 per cent literate.
A paradox of higher education in the State is that even though the extent of unemployment among the
educated is more among those coming out of the institutions of higher education of a general type, the
demand for establishing more and more of such institutions is increasing year after year.
We are fortunate that we have got an expert who knows more about the Challenges of technical education
