Mountain Girl Biscuits

  2. 2. Ingredients: <ul><li>2 cups self-rising flour </li></ul><ul><li>¼ cup Crisco </li></ul><ul><li>¾ - 1 cup milk or buttermilk </li></ul>
  3. 3. Directions <ul><li>Preheat oven to 450 degrees </li></ul>
  4. 4. In a medium-sized bowl combine flour and Crisco.
  5. 5. Cut Crisco into the flour using a pastry cutter or fork until mixture is crumbly Or use your fingers.
  6. 6. Add milk. Stir until it is mixed well.
  7. 7. Sprinkle flour onto surface that you will be rolling biscuits out on. Pour biscuit dough onto floured surface.
  8. 8. <ul><li>Knead and fold dough until it is not sticky. </li></ul>Keep folding in flour as needed.
  9. 9. <ul><ul><ul><li>Roll or pat out to desired thickness. </li></ul></ul></ul>
  10. 10. Using a cookie cutter or other device such as a cup or glass, cut the biscuits out and place them on a cookie sheet. Continue to dip cutting utensil in the flour so dough won’t stick to it.
  11. 11. <ul><li>Place biscuits in the preheated oven and bake until golden brown. Approximately 15 minutes. </li></ul>
