Anthrax

  1. 1.  Anthrax is from the bacteria Bacillus anthracis. It can be transferred by air, food, and cut in the skin. Each with its own symptoms and treatments. Anthrax is found in farm animals.
  2. 2.  Cut spread Anthrax will first cause a sore similar to a insect bite. The sore will then turn into a black ulcer. The sore is painless. Air born Anthrax will cause fever, headache, malaise, cough, short breath, and chest pain Food spread Anthrax will cause abdominal pain, diarrhea (bloody), fever, nausea, vomiting ( may have blood), and mouth sores.
  3. 3.  Cut based Anthrax will be treated with the antibiotics: penicillin, doxycycline, and ciprofloxacin. Air born Anthrax will be treated with ciprofloxacin and another drug. Food spread Anthrax will be treated with penicillin, doxycycline, and ciprofloxacin.
  4. 4.  Anthrax is important because it can and has been used as a terrorist weapon. On 9/11 letters were sent to a few people and they contained a pounder version of Anthrax.
  5. 5.  20% of people die from the ,cut based anthrax, without antibiotics Not enough information is available for the air based anthrax but the death toll is almost always death 25-60% of people die from the food based anthrax
