Cambridge veteran foster home bathroom remodel

Remodelers Council of the HBA Remodels Bath for Veterans <ul><li>World War II Vets who are too frail to care for themselves but don’t want to be in a nursing home are being assisted by members of the Remodelers Council of the Homebuilders Association of Greater Des Moines. With donated materials and labor, a half bath and closet at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Foster Home in Cambridge, Iowa, operated by Scott and Marilyn Olson, is being converted to a fully accessible bathroom. “Remodelers Council members are committed to serving our community. This bathroom will include a barrier free shower, so the vets can feel more independent and safe in this remodeled bath,” says Barry Elings, Special Events Chairperson of the Remodelers Council. </li></ul>

  10. 10. Kaufman Construction Matt Power & Scott Spetman with homeowner Scott Olson. They were there along with Devan Kaufman moving ductwork and hanging drywall. Darryl Neff finishing up the ductwork Devan of Kaufman Construction and KC Handyman Service first bought this project to the remodelers Council. Devan and his staff also designed the project, hung part of drywall, installed heating vents, and exhaust vent for bath fan and more Kinzler Construction Services supplied the drywall materials

Rod Holmes ,(left) installer for Gilcrest/Jewett tiled the floor and Darryl Neff (below) of Kaufman Construction install the tile for the shower walls and wainscot. <ul><li>Gilcrest Jewett Lumber Co   supplied setting materials, grout and other sundry materials for the walls and floor, thanks Ann Patterson and a big thanks to Rod Holmes for installing the floor tile. </li></ul><ul><li>Sunderland Brothers Co. supplied the tile for walls and floor and Angie Nichols designed and expedited the delivery </li></ul>

Thanks to Remodeling Solutions by Elings for demo, part of framing, taping, finishing, texturing the drywall and painting and installed cabinet Barry Elings talking with Jan O’Briant Medical Foster Home coordinator for the Des Moines area VA Hospital Swan Creek Cabinet Co. built a bath cabinet and supplied the casing, baseboard and shoe.
