Grupo Santander's intranet ranked in top 10
worldwide according to Nielsen Norman Group
 This annual award organised by Nielsen Norman Group, the benchmark analysis and
consultancy company, is the most prestigious for intranets and evaluates the
platform's design and usability in particular, prioritising the user's experience.
Madrid, 10 January 2017. Grupo Santander's intranet has been ranked in the top 10
published by Nielsen Norman Group, which recognises the best intranets worldwide, and
includes those of major companies such as Bank of America and IBM. The aspects evaluated
include design and usability, the unification of various content under the same portal, the
possibility to personalise the site, its responsive design (the screen adapts to the type of
device used) and, above all, its ease of use and user satisfaction.
The Corporate Centre intranet was redesigned just over a year ago to add new
functionalities, notably: single sign on, information on the various areas and divisions, direct
access to the most frequently-used tools and portals, etc.
For Jakob Nielsen, an expert in usability and co-founder of Nielsen Norman Group, the
Bank's Corporate Centre intranet "combines the company's digital transformation process
with requests from employees to have a more modern and innovative intranet. This tool was
designed based on a study of employees' habits to strengthen communication, collaboration
and personalised tools".
"Building the new intranet was a team effort. It was a technological challenge for all
involved, from the architecture, development, integration and implementation teams to
those which contributed content and change management This award recognises the efforts
and dedication of all those involved throughout the project. The next step is to continue
listening to our employees and observe their needs so that the intranet continues evolving",
notes Antonio Alberto López, intranet manager in the Digital Banking team.
