  3. 3. HTML • Is a standardized system for tagging text files to achieve font, colour, graphic, and hyperlink effects on Web pages. • Developed by scientist Tim Berners-Lee in 1990 at CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics in Geneva, Switzerland.
  4. 4. refers to the way in which Web pages (HTML documents) are linked together. text document with tags that tell a Web browser how to structure it to display. Hypertext Markup Language What is and ?

  6. 6. <h1> to <h6> • define HTML headings •<h1> defines the most important heading. • <h6> defines the least important heading. •That is, <h1> has largest font size and <h6> the least example
  7. 7. <a> • defines a hyperlink, which is used to link from one page to another. • href attribute link's to destination. • By default, links will appear as follows in all browsers: o An unvisited link is underlined and blue o A visited link is underlined and purple o An active link is underlined and red <a href="">Search!</a> example

  9. 9. <ul> • defines an unordered list. • Each list item starts with the <li> tag • By defaut, the list items are marked with bullets • Unordered list are used to style the navigation link in webpages example
  10. 10. <ol> • represents an ordered list of items. • Each list item starts with the <li> tag • An ordered list can be numerical or alphabetical example
  11. 11. <table> • defines an HTML table. • consists of the <table> element and one or more <tr>, <th>, and <td> elements. • The <tr> element defines a table row, the <th> element defines a table header, and the <td> element defines a table cell. example
  12. 12. <img> • tag defines an image in an HTML page. • Images are not technically inserted into an HTML page, images are linked to HTML pages. • The <img> tag creates a holding space for the referenced image. <img src=“picture.jpg" alt=“picture"> example
  13. 13. <iframe> • specifies an inline frame. • used to embed another document within the current HTML document. <iframe src=""></iframe> example
  14. 14. <form> • used to create an HTML form for user input. • <form> element may contain o <input> o <textarea> o <button> o <select> o <option> o <radio> o <checkbox> o etc.. example
  15. 15. <div> • defines a division or a section in an HTML document. • used to group block-elements to format them with CSS. • Block elements add a line break before and after them, and expand to 100% <div style="color:#29c"> <h3>This is a heading</h3> <p>This is a paragraph.</p> </div> example
  16. 16. <span> • used to group inline-elements in a document. • Inline elements don’t break the text before and after them • provides a way to add style to a part of a text Early to bed and early to rise makes a man <span style="color: red;"><b>healthy</b></span>,<span style="color: green;"><b>wealthy</b></span> and <span style="color: blue;"><b>wise</b></span>. example
