BP Scholarship Application Process Technology Program General Scholarship Information • Applicants must be an Alaska resident • This scholarship is for students who are enrolling or currently enrolled in the Process Technology two-year degree program offered at University of Alaska – Anchorage or Fairbanks, or Kenai. • Scholarship retention will be evaluated at the end of each semester and will be based on student performance against the requirements as described below. • Students have up to three years to complete the Process Technology degree program. • The maximum funding level of any scholarship is $12,000. • While BP offers other scholarships, each selected student for the Process Technology Program may receive only one BP Scholarship. • Students may apply for only one level of the Process Technology Scholarship. • This scholarship is provided for students who seek training for permanent employment in the industries that use and control mechanical, physical or chemical processes to produce a final product. • This scholarship will provide for training for those who are interested in a career in Process Technology and the challenges of controlling operations in a process industry. Levels of Funding Level 1 -for students who will be taking 12+ credits/4+ courses. $3000 per semester to complete courses required for the Process Technology degree. This level of funding is for students who are enrolled as FULL TIME students taking a minimum course load of 12 credits. Enrollment Requirements: These 12 credits must be: 4 Process Technology courses, OR 2 - 3 Process Technology courses AND 1 - 2 core courses for a total of 12 credits All of the course work must be applicable to the Process Technology degree at UAA, UAF or Kenai Peninsula College. Level 2 -for students who will be taking 9+ credits. $2000 per semester to complete courses required for the Process Technology degree. This level of funding is for students who may have completed some post-secondary academic courses and need to complete the remainder of their academic courses and some or all of the Process Technology Courses. Designed for students who may be working and only able to attend part-time. Enrollment Requirements: These 9 credits must be: 2 Process Technology courses, AND 1 - 2 core courses for a total of 9 credits All of the course work must be applicable to the Process Technology degree at UAA, UAF or Kenai Peninsula College. Level 3 -for students who will be taking 6+ credits. $1500 per semester to complete courses required for the Process Technology degree. This level of funding is for students who may have completed some post secondary academic courses or earned some post secondary degree requirements and will only need to complete the remainder core courses and all of the Process Technology courses. Designed for students who may be working and only able to attend part-time. Enrollment Requirements: These 6 credits must be: Process Technology courses. All of the course work must be applicable to the Process Technology degree at UAA, UAF or Kenai Peninsula College. Academic Requirements for all Process Levels: each semester the student will be required to attain the following in order to continue receiving scholarship funding: • 2.52.5 grade point average in each academic course • Written evidence of satisfactory academic progress from the instructor which reflects good class standing • Not on academic probation for any cause Students will be required to submit college letters and transcripts verifying grades and attendance at the end of each semester and/or school year in order for monies to be released for the upcoming semester. Summer school attendance constitutes one semester.

Official high school and college or technical training transcripts — high school transcripts not required for high school graduates prior to 1990 4. If you are a currently enrolled college student enclose a completed / signed degree plan from a college advisor. 5. Three letters of recommendation to include contact phone numbers. Letters should reflect evidence of good interpersonal and team skills. Letters should be from the following: Former/Present employer(s) 1-2 letters Recent/Present Supervisor(s) 1-2 letters Character Reference 1 letter 6. Short one-two page essay to describe why you want to participate in this program. This will also provide us a sample of your writing skills. 7. Detailed description of all technical training and past technical work experience. Please be very detailed in listing your job duties from each job. Schedule: • Applications and documentation must be received no later than October 31 • Upon receiving the completed application documentation all candidates will be screened. The top candidates will be scheduled for interviews in November • Notification of awarding of the BP Process Technology Scholarship for the Fall, 2002 semester will be before December 1. , 2002 (NO APPLICATION WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR SCREENING UNLESS THE APPLICATION IS RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE AND WITH ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS.) Applications will remain in active status for scholarships through 2002. Each applicant may update the application packet at any time to remain in the application pool. NO applicant can have a felony or misdemeanor charge within the last 5 years.
