  1. 1. For Immediate Release Contact: Larry Jones Dewayne Guy Burrell Communications Procter & Gamble 312-297-9786 513-634-3587 ljones@burrell.com guy.d@pg.com Bounty and Journalist Ed Gordon to Celebrate Father/Daughter Relationships with Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral in New York Bounty Hosts National Contest in Search of Special Fathers and Daughters Who Exemplify the Father/Daughter Bond CINCINNATI, OH, December 4, 2008 – As a continuation of its ongoing support of initiatives aimed at celebrating and strengthening families within the African-American community, Bounty will be joining Emmy award-winning journalist Ed Gordon, for the third stop on the Daddy’s Promise national church tour. On Saturday, December 6, beginning at 10 a.m. until noon, Bounty representatives and Gordon will be at the Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York located on 110-31 Merrick Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens for a special address and celebration of the bond between fathers and daughters. This event is FREE to the public and will feature complimentary father/daughter portraits, a do-it-yourself ice cream sundae station and a special cooking demonstration with New York-based celebrity chef Lindsey Williams of Sylvia’s fame. “Bounty is proud to be the primary sponsor of Daddy’s Promise and of the opportunity to work closely with Ed Gordon to spark this national discussion regarding the positive relationship that can and should exist between fathers and daughters,” said Darice Thompson, Assistant Brand Manager for Bounty. “As a family brand, we understand the importance of supporting initiatives aimed at celebrating and strengthening families within the African-American community.” At each stop on the tour, Gordon uses the opportunity to discuss his special bond with his 14-year- old daughter Taylor and salute fathers pledging a lifetime of love to their own daughters. As a centerpiece of the discussion, Gordon asks all attending fathers to join him in taking the Daddy’s Promise pledge to show and acknowledge their love and support for their daughters. “Fathers play a crucial role in their daughters’ success, both personal and professional,” says Ed Gordon. “We want to acknowledge the tremendous impact that the father-daughter bond can have in helping girls grow into resilient, confident women and to facilitate the first steps in establishing healthy relationships between girls and the men who help raise them.” Gordon and Bounty began the Daddy’s Promise church tour this fall in Detroit at the Second Ebenezer church with a second stop in Dallas in partnership with Bishop T.D. Jakes’ The Potter
  2. 2. House. The churches have provided Bounty and Gordon with an environment that is ideal to speaking to family issues. Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral of New York was selected for its focus on strengthening families and its commitment to the community. During the event attendees will be treated to a special cooking demonstration with New York-based celebrity Chef Lindsey Williams and his 13-year-old stepdaughter, Missy. The cooking demonstration is designed to foster an environment that provides dads and daughters time to nurture their special bond through cooking and cleaning together in the kitchen. An ice cream station will also be available, allowing families to make and enjoy ice cream sundaes while cleaning up their messes with Bounty paper towels. In addition, fathers and daughters can have their portrait taken together during the evening. Church members and guests also will have an onsite opportunity to participate in Bounty’s Promise, a nationwide search for dads and daughters who exemplify the special father/daughter bond. To assist in its national search Bounty will host a Cyber Café, where fathers or other loved ones can log onto www.Bountyspromise.com to nominate their favorite father/daughter duo, or dads can nominate themselves and one daughter, for a chance to win an extraordinary prize package that includes, among other prizes, VIP tickets to the Daddy’s Promise father/daughter dance to be held in New York in June, 2009. Launched on June 12, 2008 by Ed Gordon, Daddy’s Promise is designed to engage the African- American community in supporting and promoting the positive relationship between fathers/ father figures and daughters. The initiative encourages fathers to be active in their daughters’ lives. As title sponsor, Bounty is committed to helping families clean up the little messes and spills in life so they can focus on the quality time that makes the father/daughter relationship strong, loving, fun and enduring.
