2. • Slavery in the U.S.A occurred during the
18th and 19th centuries in British America,
and it was firmly established when the
Declaration of Independence of the United
States was signed.
3. • In the north of America slavery was illegal,
while in the South was legal.
• One owner could have the slaves they
wanted to, and the mayority of the slaves
were black people, who live in South
America.
4. Slavery is bad, but in children is much worse.

6. • Most forms of slavery share the following characteristics:
1- Slaves were obliged to live their lives in perpetual service to
their master, an obligation that only the master (or the state)
can dissolve.
2- Slaves are under the complete power of their masters, although
the state or community may impose certain restrictions upon
the master's treatment of the slave
3- Slaves were property, which may be sold or passed along as
an inheritance at the master's discretion.
4- The condition of slavery is transmitted from parent to child.
8. • The outbreak of the Civil War forever changed the future
of the American nation.
• Many slaves escaped to the North in the early years of
the war, and several Union generals established
abolitionist policies in the land Southern land that they
conquered.
• On September 22, 1862, following the dramatic Union
victory at Antietam, President Abraham Lincoln
presented the Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation.
