2. BACKGROUND
Mangcayo is a barangay in the
municipality of Vinzons, in the
province of Camarines Norte. Its
population as determined by the 2015
Census was 1,050 which represented
2.41% of the total population of
Vinzons. Meanwhile in Purok 3, of the
said barangay, houses 39 families.
3. Majority of the
residents get their
water through
shallow wells or
deep wells which
they built and no
purification being
done.
There are only 5 water pumps
available in the said purok.
However, the available
pumps are already old.
They have no direct
connection to
primewater, thus, they
get their potable water
from the town proper
of Vinzons,Camarines
Norte which is
approximately 15-20
minutes away from
Brgy. Mangcayo.
4. The only mode of
transportation via
land is motorcycle
taxi due to narrow
roads on the way to
the barangay. This
situation limits the
gallons of water
each household can
bring to their
We can therefore
say that the lack
of water supply
and potable
water are one of
the problems of
the said
community.
5. PROJECT
DESCRIPTION
Water is a basic necessity of humans, and
we cannot merely survive without it. Water
scarcity is one of the world’s greatest
problems, and starting it from a little could
make a huge difference. This project will be
accomplished through the collective effort
of young leaders, Local Government Unit and
Non-Government Organizations that would
help in funding the WATER FOR MANGCAYO:
A FILTERED WATER PUMP PROJECT.
6. Seeing the situation of the said barangay
shows evidence about the need for more
water sources. Hence, there is a necessity to
have a water pump with a filter for an
additional water source.
8. OBJECTIVES
Water for Mangcayo aims to attain the
following:
1
To have access to a
safe drinking water
supply and sanitation
for 39 families
through a filtered
water pump system.
To lessen water-
fetching efforts such
as time and distance.
To form and train a
local community
group to operate and
maintain the water
pump filter system
and facility.
