  4. 4. ORCID VISION A world where all who participate in research, scholarship, and innovation are uniquely identified and connected to their contributions across disciplines, borders, and time
  5. 5. ORCID ROADMAP Working with our Board and community, we have created a roadmap for the next 3 years, centered on core strategies. Each year we focus on a specific sector. During 2018 our goal is to make ORCID record information richer and more secure, focusing on the funding community.’s-strategic-plan

  7. 7. 2018: RESEARCHER Researcher: Use ORCID to share information ● Sharing information - Establishing pathways for researchers to share affiliation, funding, and resource information when publishing ● Collecting evidence - Demonstrating benefit of implementing ORCID

RESEARCH RESOURCES Sharing information - Establishing pathways for researchers to share funding and resource information ● New “Research Resources” section on ORCID record ● Working with funders and resources to capture iDs during application or registration process ● Working with publishers to capture information from author’s ORCID record in article submission process

  12. 12. 2018: INFRASTRUCTURE Infrastructure: ORCID as a trusted neutral actor in sharing research information ● ORBIT Project: establish what information is essential for funding applications and post-award reporting, and demonstrate how funders can engage with researchers to use ORCID record information to populate funder forms ORBIT funder working group includes 13 funding bodies from 11 countries, including JST, ARC, MBIE, NIH, Wellcome, NSERC, and CAPES.
  13. 13. 2018: TRUSTED ASSERTIONS Trusted Assertions: ORCID as a hub for asserting and re-using information ● ORCID policy and trust - Clarifying policies and processes for assertions, organization identifiers, GDPR ● Research affiliation hub - Working with platform providers to standardize and certify ORCID integration
