Major publishing companies such as Macmillan and Prentice Hall are seeking affordable ways to publish digital copies of their books. Ashok Bagdy, a business process outsourcing expert, encourages U.S. publishers to outsource their copy to India for better prices. The e-book industry has grown tremendously in the last several years, even bypassing printed book sales in 2011. Academic and medical journals are also jumping into the e- book market. In just one year, e-book sales rose from 6 percent of the book market to 15 percent.
  2. 2. More people are reading books on small, portable readers such as the Kindle, Nook, and iPad. These handy devices are affordable and easily hold hundreds of titles. Ashok Bagdy predicts that more publishers will choose the e-book format in the near future, perhaps outsourcing to India for better prices.
