  3. 3. V3.30.16 Content Direction MARKETING STUDIO BrandUp STARTUP FROM THE GROUND UP Atlanta’s tech scene continues to boom, but does the average Atlanta- area resident know anything about it or how the government, business leaders and the private sector are working together to accelerate the city of Atlanta and make it attractive for future businesses, residents and commerce? If average consumers knew about these startups, they would be more likely to support, advocate for and use the products/ services from Atlanta-based startups. To create a recurring segment of street interviews with consumers that will share information about Atlanta Tech Edge while showcasing apps/ services/products from Atlanta-based startups. BrandUp in partnership with the Atlanta Tech Edge will interview consumers on the streets of Downtown Atlanta to ask them questions about the featured “startup” of the day. These questions would be fun, informative and engaging, ranging from questions inquiring if they have a similar problem that the startup is solving with their products/ services to if they’ve heard about the Atlanta-based startup and their Founder’s story. 4. 4. Content Direction MARKETING STUDIO BrandUp THE BEST INGREDIENT IN TECH STARTUPS: WOMEN The tech industry has long been dominated by White men, but little by little, startups are beginning to diversify their employees when it comes to the racial and gender fronts. While that’s been happening, women have been carving out their own space in this industry to build and grow their brilliant ideas and expertise by creating businesses. But how does the tech industry look now, and what it does it look like specifically in Atlanta? What hiring practices are startups taking to ensure women have real positions with managerial command? What are women doing with their own ventures in the meantime while other startups rush to fill in the talent gap that they’ve had for so long? To create a show that spotlights women in tech while showcasing their startups (or positions at startups) and educating others about the work they’re doing in Atlanta. BrandUp in partnership with the Atlanta Tech Edge will create a recurring segment dedicated to women and startups that will include the following elements: • A roundtable of Atlanta-area women who hold positions at notable startups to answer questions about the culture of startups, the gender issue in startups and how women are beginning to stand out • Five 2-minute interviews with women founders of Atlanta-based startups that are pre-recorded and shown on air; the feature segment is focused on their startup, their biggest challenges and successes and how they help consumers or businesses • A mini-documentary detailing a day in the lives of the women chosen for the DigitalUndivided program by Mayor Kasim Reed Prepared by Ashley Cleveland, Founder & CEO BrandUp SEGMENT OBJECTIVE MISSION Atlanta Startup Scene V3.30.16
  5. 5. Content Direction MARKETING STUDIO BrandUp SEGMENT FEMALE NEW-MEDIA MOGULS Metro Atlanta stakes it claim as one of the fasted growing cites for women owned business and with the flexibility of running wildly profitable business from anywhere including home, women are finding success by breaking barriers online To create a segment that showcases Atlanta-based female digital entrepreneurs, bloggers, and startup founders BrandUp in partnership with the Atlanta Tech Edge will create a reoccurring segment that takes the viewer on a journey of modern women finding success, notoriety, and profits in running their digital business. Prepared by Ashley Cleveland, Founder & CEO BrandUp OBJECTIVE MISSION Atlanta Startup Scene V3.30.16
  6. 6. BEING BROWN IN THE STARTUP SCENE Though Atlanta is a melting pot of cultures, it still lacks diversity when it comes to the tech industry. Not only are Blacks and Hispanics harder to find as employees working in startups, but also as founders, they have a harder time gaining access to the capital, networks, influence and mentors they need to experience success in the early stages of their businesses. With millions of Atlantans and thousands of those in the tech industry, where can you find and support a Black or Hispanic tech startup founder? To create a segment that spotlights minority entrepreneurs in tech while showcasing their startups and educating the city about the work they’re doing. BrandUp in partnership with the Atlanta Tech Edge will highlight minorities and startups that will include the following elements: • A live panel of Black and Hispanic startup founders who will answer questions about their businesses, their specific challenges and how they have been successful with their business • A taped segment featuring the youngest Black and Hispanic startup founders (under 35 years old) in Atlanta, following them while they run their business. • A few short stories on the most successful startups in Atlanta run by women and men of color and their success (with b-roll, interviews with the founders and photos). 7. 7. Content Direction MARKETING STUDIO BrandUp SEGMENT THE UX (USER EXPERIENCE) With video content continuing to be increasingly popular, it’s becoming more important that startup founders find ways to tell the stories of their products and services in a compelling yet memorable way. To create a recurring segment that take a front seat into the products/ apps/services that Atlanta-based startups have created to build brand affinity and increase users and drive scale. BrandUp in partnership with the Atlanta Tech Edge will create a highly- visual short segment that takes the viewer on a journey of what a user would experience with that app/product/service from one selected startup (per segment). The content will mainly focus on the UX of app via computer or mobile device and then zoom into an animated video that showcases the app/product/service’s features and user benefits.
