Tiny Tickers - A better start for tiny hearts

"Tiny Tickers" is a small charity with big ambitions - help to improve the detection, care and treatment of babies with serious heart conditions.

This project was created to help raise awareness about the CHD and how much it affects babies, not only in the UK, but all around the world.

  3. 3. Our mission is to improve the early detection and care of babies with serious heart conditions – giving these babies a better start in life.

  8. 8. Which can save lives, improve post-surgery survival rates and lead to a better long-term quality of life.
  9. 9. How we can help
  10. 10. We help babies with serious heart conditions, their families, and the health professionals who look after them.
  11. 11. National prenatal detection rates of CHD are currently at 47%
  12. 12. Together, we want to get these rates up to 75%
  13. 13. We train sonographers and other health professionals giving them the skills, information and confidence to spot more defects during pregnancy or as soon as possible after birth.
  14. 14. We offer families the information and support they need We spread awareness – telling parents- to-be about their baby’s developing heart; and giving new parents vital information about the signs of an undetected heart problems in newborns.
  15. 15. We lobby decision- makers in the NHS influencing service standards – and fund academic research into congenital heart defects.

  21. 21. The Think HEART campaign is a really easy way for parents and health professionals who aren’t cardiac specialists to know the KEY SIGNS that a baby may have an undiagnosed heart condition.
  22. 22. = Heart rate Is your baby’s heart rate too fast or too slow – it should normally be 100-160 beats per minute? H
  23. 23. = Energy Is your baby sleepy, quiet or floppy? Are they too tired to feed, or falling asleep during feeds? E Z ZZZ H
  24. 24. = Appearance Is your baby a pale, waxy, dusky, blue, purple, mottled or grey colour? A H E
