Episode 6 • Many people in our society are obsessed with looks. • There’s nothing wrong with wanting to look good. • but feeling good is more important. • For most of us, having the vibrancy to tackle life should be our goal.   2. 2. v Who Has the Nicest Bodies in the Gym? • Look around the next time you are in the gym and see who has the nicest bodies. • Is it the people on bikes and treadmills? • Or the folks with the weights? • The answer is the people with the weights. • Also, sprinters have thick, muscular bodies. • Marathon runners are typically small and slender.   4. 4. v It’s Impossible to Lose Weight By Just Going to The Gym • Next time you to the gym, get on the bike for 2 hours. • Track how many calories you burn. • Then, get your favorite fast food on the way home. • Look at the calorie amount and see how much more it is than what you burned.   6. 6. vWe are Hardwired to Hold on to Fat • If you consistently do cardio, your body goes into starvation mode. • You hold onto more fat instead of building muscle. • Your body gets more efficient at burning calories, which means you burn fewer calories with each session.   7. 7. vDon’t Cardio Yourself to Death • Stop wasting all of your fitness time doing cardio. • I like to get my cardio from doing the things I love. • Like basketball or tennis. • It keeps me from feeling like I “earned” bad food by burning calories. • Don’t let your mind trick you into eating bad food after a good gym session. • Sizing your body in the kitchen and shaping your body in the gym applies whether you’re trying to lose or gain weight.
