Instrument innovation is a priority for orthopedic device companies that seek to meet surgeon and hospital requests to decrease inventory. Companies have introduced single-use instruments and fewer trays as part of the solution. Joe George, DPM, Director of the Foot and Ankle Practice at the Illinois Orthopedic Institute, recounted for attendees his O.R. and inventory logistic experiences with single-use and reusable instruments.
