2. 1. Study for it as you would
for any other test
Don’t take it lightly - if you want to pass you’ll
need to really apply yourself.

4. 3. Summarise and paraphrase
Read the highway code book and take notes by
paraphrasing into your own words.
Doing this ensures you really understand the
meaning of the material, rather than just
memorising it and reciting it in parrot fashion.

5. 4. Create flash cards for yourself
As you work your way through the highway
code book, create flash cards of the things you
find difficult to remember.
Write a point down on each card, front and
back, and then test yourself with them on the
bus or whenever you have a spare moment.

6. 5. Break it up and reward yourself
Set yourself small targets, such as knowing all
the roundabout rules, and then treat yourself
once you’ve achieved that goal.
Breaking things up into smaller chunks like this
can make your study seem less daunting and
more manageable.

7. 6. Get family and friends involved
Get friends and family to help by asking you
questions. You can provide them the questions
or they may like to ask their own.
If you have friends who will also sit the test in
the near future then start a study group.

8. 7. Set a date for your theory test
Even if you don’t officially book your test in until
you’re ready, setting a provisional date will give
you something to work towards and create
some momentum for you to get your study
underway.
Good Luck!
