Foreword
Following the success of the silent auction which we piloted last November and which
raised around £2,000 to provide grants to further education students, we are delighted
to launch a second auction to raise money to add to that fund.
The Trustees of the AoC Charitable Trust have agreed that the beneficiaries of the
grant fund will be the AoC Gold Awards’ “Future Stars” – students who are at the
same college as the Gold Award winner, studying a similar course with similar career
aspirations. These Future Stars will be given the opportunity to apply for a grant
that will enable them to participate in an activity which would support their career
aspirations, enhance their employability and would provide them with an experience
which would be over and above what they might expect to receive as part of their
course.
The successful Future Stars will be presented with their grant cheque as part of the
AoC Gold Awards presentation ceremony which will be held at the House of Commons
in June by the Gold Award winners.
We are extremely grateful for the generosity of all the organisations and individuals
who have donated items to the auction to support this worthy cause. We have items
that will appeal to colleges as a whole, their staff, whether in a professional or personal
capacity, and the wider general public.
We hope that some of the wide range of items on offer in this catalogue are of interest
to you, your college or even your friends and family. Please help us to publicise our
auction to raise more money to support our sector’s Future Stars and grow the grant
fund to enable us to carry this initiative into future years.
How to take part in the auction:
1. The auction will open on Thursday 24 April 2014.
2. You will need an eBay account to participate in the auction.
3. Go onto the eBay for Charity website. To find the items for sale, click on
‘advanced search’ and search by seller for “aoc_trust”
4. To bid on an item, type in the amount that you would like to bid and click ‘Place
Bid’. Please note that this must be higher than the previous bid.
5. At this stage you will need to sign into your eBay account, or create a new
account.
6. If you have won the auction you will receive an email notification. To pay, then
click ‘pay now’. Please note the auction closes at 21.00 on Sunday 4 May.
7. Following the instructions, you can then pay via PayPal or using a credit or debit
card.
How to bid using your phone or tablet
1. To bid using your phone or tablet you first need to download the free eBay app
from the app store.
2. If you are using an iPhone, iPad or Android device, you can scan the QR code
below using the eBay app (you can also do this with other QR code scanning
apps). From here you can view and bid on items.
3. If you are using a BlackBerry or other smartphone, you can access the eBay
app, but will need to search for ‘Association of Colleges’ manually to access the
auction.
For some special items, i.e. those for Colleges/charities only, you will need to be
a ‘pre-approved bidder’
1. To sign up to access these special items, email Kieran Cunningham, quoting
your name, address and eBay ID (you will need to set up an eBay account before
doing this). Please also include a telephone number.
2. Once you have received an email notification, you can start bidding.
Good luck and happy bidding!
If non of the items are of interest and you would still like to support our
fundraising, you can donate to the grant fund via the eBay page or by
texting AOCT £10 (or your desired amount) to 70070.

  • 2. Foreword How to take part in the auction Goods for Colleges Mentoring Opportunities for FE middle or senior managers Sporting merchandise/memorabilia/experiences Guest Speakers Dining/Cooking experiences, hotel breaks Hair and Beauty Therapies Other Items Carole Stott, Chair AoC Charitable Trust Martin Doel, Chief Executive Association of Colleges Foreword Following the success of the silent auction which we piloted last November and which raised around £2,000 to provide grants to further education students, we are delighted to launch a second auction to raise money to add to that fund. The Trustees of the AoC Charitable Trust have agreed that the beneficiaries of the grant fund will be the AoC Gold Awards’ “Future Stars” – students who are at the same college as the Gold Award winner, studying a similar course with similar career aspirations. These Future Stars will be given the opportunity to apply for a grant that will enable them to participate in an activity which would support their career aspirations, enhance their employability and would provide them with an experience which would be over and above what they might expect to receive as part of their course. The successful Future Stars will be presented with their grant cheque as part of the AoC Gold Awards presentation ceremony which will be held at the House of Commons in June by the Gold Award winners. We are extremely grateful for the generosity of all the organisations and individuals who have donated items to the auction to support this worthy cause. We have items that will appeal to colleges as a whole, their staff, whether in a professional or personal capacity, and the wider general public. We hope that some of the wide range of items on offer in this catalogue are of interest to you, your college or even your friends and family. Please help us to publicise our auction to raise more money to support our sector’s Future Stars and grow the grant fund to enable us to carry this initiative into future years. How to take part in the auction: 1. The auction will open on Thursday 24 April 2014. 2. You will need an eBay account to participate in the auction. 3. Go onto the eBay for Charity website. To find the items for sale, click on ‘advanced search’ and search by seller for “aoc_trust” 4. To bid on an item, type in the amount that you would like to bid and click ‘Place Bid’. Please note that this must be higher than the previous bid. 5. At this stage you will need to sign into your eBay account, or create a new account. 6. If you have won the auction you will receive an email notification. To pay, then click ‘pay now’. Please note the auction closes at 21.00 on Sunday 4 May. 7. Following the instructions, you can then pay via PayPal or using a credit or debit card. How to bid using your phone or tablet 1. To bid using your phone or tablet you first need to download the free eBay app from the app store. 2. If you are using an iPhone, iPad or Android device, you can scan the QR code below using the eBay app (you can also do this with other QR code scanning apps). From here you can view and bid on items. 3. If you are using a BlackBerry or other smartphone, you can access the eBay app, but will need to search for ‘Association of Colleges’ manually to access the auction. For some special items, i.e. those for Colleges/charities only, you will need to be a ‘pre-approved bidder’ 1. To sign up to access these special items, email Kieran Cunningham, quoting your name, address and eBay ID (you will need to set up an eBay account before doing this). Please also include a telephone number. 2. Once you have received an email notification, you can start bidding. Good luck and happy bidding! If non of the items are of interest and you would still like to support our fundraising, you can donate to the grant fund via the eBay page or by texting AOCT £10 (or your desired amount) to 70070.
