AoC London Member’s Bulletin - Issue 122

  1. 1. AoC London Region Members’ Bulletin 12 October 2012 – Issue 122 Dear Colleagues The AoC London Principals Forum met on 2nd October on Funding Reforms. The session provided a good opportunity to review the scale, scope and implications of the changes for 13/14 in the London context. It was excellent to receive contributions from the Skills Funding Agency, Education Funding Agency, National Apprenticeship Service and London Councils around 16 – 18 Funding Formula Changes, Programmes of Study, Raising the Participation Age, Simplification, the new Skills Funding Agency funding formula and 24+ Advanced Learner Loans. In response to members, an outcome of the session was agreement that we will organise a follow up session on Higher Needs Students and the new role for Councils. Please contact Evelina Bagusyte if you would like to get the slides. On the same day a small group, chaired by Sue Rimmer as our Regional World Skills Champion, shared ideas on World Skills and Developing a Vision for London. London Colleges are taking part in the Skills Show, Birmingham (15-17 November), and Skills London (23-24 November). Building on this it was agreed we wanted to do more in London to get the most out of national, regional and local competitions for our students and employers. Watch this space! Next week there are a number of key events that provide the opportunity to discuss London Colleges policy priorities and to influence the policy agenda. These include: • th House of Commons meeting/dinner for five MPs and their local College principals (15 October). • Regional Committee FE Principals meeting with Munira Mirza, Deputy Mayor (18th October). The agenda is being jointly prepared and will be sent out separately. • AoC London Regional Forum (18th October) at Eversheds.
