Farmers literacy's importance

  1. 1. 1. In India today, farmers are not properly organised. They are allowing many middlmentoerode the profits from sale of their products. The price which the consumer in bigcities paysis high but what the farmer gets is low. They need to organise themselves sothat they havetheir own mechanism for distribution so that they make more profits. Fordoing this, oneserious input is education. If many of them are educated, this will givethem enoughCONFIDENCE to organise this. If they remain simpletons, smart citypeople will takeadvantage of them.2. They also need to know about state of the art farming methods. This will give themgreaterproductivity. They need to pool their lands, use mechanisation, use latesthybrids, use latestirrigation methods and take advantage of farming research done inIndia and all over theworld. These are two major reasons how education will help farmers.3. In any case, as citizens, they need to vote properly. Education is an important inputforthis.4. They should be able to know their legal rights and legal avenues available fortheirproblems.
