Awis Aae And Guns Inventory Brief

 1. 2. Airborne Weapons Information Systems (AWIS) modules

AAE – Aircraft Armament Equipment Inventory System

ACES – Automated Captive Carry Entry System

AMS – Ammunition Management System

AWARS – Airborne Weapons Analysis and Reporting System

AWARS DES – Data Entry System

AWIS Central – Main login page for all applications

CADMSS – Configuration and Data Management Support System

 2. 3. Airborne Weapons Information Systems (AWIS) modules (contd)

CDMS Items – Core Data Management System for Items

CDMS Users – Core Data Management System for Users

DRWEB – Deficiency reporting WEB based

Firing reports

EMS – Engineering Management System

GITR – Guns Inventory Tracking and Reporting

Maintenance modeling (2E/8E)

Problem Reporting – Problem Reporting

TPIR – Targets Performance, Inventory, and Reporting

 3. 4. AWIS Central

Goal – All ordnance database systems will be accessed through AWIS central. After logging in, users will see all modules they have access to. All modules will use one common username and password.

 5. 6. AAE Inventory – Current Process

An inventory system for the Aircraft Armament Equipment (AAE) program is greatly needed, as no automated system exists.

A manual inventory is performed every quarter by the fleet.

NAVAIR consolidates an overall inventory, based on all the data sent in from the fleet activities.

The inventory is usually at least 45 days old upon final consolidation and release.

 6. 7. AAE Inventory – Results

No manual inventories will be required by the fleet.

Inventories will always be up to date and real time.

Validation will be enforced so that higher accuracy is maintained.

Processes will be enforced:

Shipments (transfers & receipt).

I-level/O-level issue process.

The level of Ready for Issue (RFI) equipment vs Non RFI (NRFI) will always be known. The Summary Report is designed to specifically track availability levels.

 7. 8. AAE Inventory – Functionality

Basic Philosophy – The I-level will maintain most of the AAE inventory. When the O-level needs equipment, the I-level will issue the equipment. All transfers/shipments will be tracked. The inventory will be updated in real-time.

Shipping – The only way equipment can be transferred between units is to use the shipping module. The inventory is assigned to the destination once the equipment is received and the destination unit logs in and “acknowledges receipt”.

 8. 9. AAE Inventory – Functionality (contd)

The system will support multiple roles ( O-Level View , O-Level Edit, I-Level View , I -Level Edit, TYCOM Administrator, and NAVAIR Administrator). I-levels will only see their own inventory and likewise, O-levels will only see their respective inventory.

Emailed Reports – Using the DRWEB model, reports and metrics will be mailed on a monthly basis. In this fashion, appropriate personnel will have their inventory information pushed to them on a monthly basis.

 9. 10. AAE Inventory – Functionality (contd)

Reports – Several reports will be available to show the overall inventory levels (summarized information), down to detailed information (readiness status down to the serial number level). There will also be shipping reports, gains/losses reports and readiness reports.

As with DRWEB, all user information and item validation information will be stored in the core table structures.

 10. 11. AAE Inventory – Schedule

Jan 2003 Started creating the Functional Requirements

Mar 2003 Received final approval of the FR at the AAE Program Review

Mar-May 03 Currently developing the AAE inventory system

May 2003 Enroll beta users

May 2003 Begin the beta test at Lemoore

After this date, neither the I-level nor O-level will be able to enter new gear. They will only be able to edit the gear already in the system. To enter new gear, they will need TYCOM/NAVAIR approval to temporarily update their access level.

 14. 15. AAE Inventory – New Releases (contd)

Version 2.3 (complete)

Many squadrons were having network issues and unable to enter inventory data. A stand alone spreadsheet has been developed for squadrons truly having problems. The spreadsheet enforces similar validation and can be E:mailed to me once complete. The following is an actual sample:

 15. 16. AAE Inventory – Stats

Oct 03 April 04

10,000 pieces of gear entered 45,223 pieces of gear entered

33 units have entered data 214 units have entered data

1030 users are enrolled

Prime pool breakdown (including the squadrons)
 16. 17. AAE Inventory – Enhancements/Concerns

We still need a list of items to include in the non-serialized validation list.

 17. 18. GUN Inventory System

GUN Inventory Tracking and Reporting (GITR) System

 18. 19. 19. 20. GUN Inventory System (contd)

There is an additional requirement to be able to download data from Crane. (Crane is responsible for insuring aft compliance, but doesn’t track all the data that the Gun program needs).

Anticipated schedule:

June – Revise the FR for Guns (incorporate beta feedback from AAE beta test)

July - Customize the Guns application.

August – Fill in the validation information

August – Enroll beta users

 20. 21. GUNS Inventory System (contd)

September – Beta test at Miramar.

Oct 04 – Added to validation lists.

Nov 04 – Second meeting to clarify requirements.

The main change - F-14, F-18, AV-8 platforms need to track their respective gun inventory, based on the gun system (including the cannon and in some cases the AMMO pack).

 21. 22. GUNS Inventory System (contd)

April 04 – Completed version 1.1 of GITR, enrolled more beta squadrons, added to validation lists.

April 04 – Sent out several E:mails to all GITR users relative to the current system in order to ‘encourage’ them to utilize the system.

May 04 – Enroll more squadrons and attempt to populate database.

August 04 – Modeling program to extract data from GITR if it is fully populated.

 22. 23. GUNS Inventory System (contd)

46 units have entered data

1,516 pieces of gear entered

370 users enrolled

 23. 24. GITR Inventory – Enhancements/Concerns

Need complete validation lists so that they can be documented in manual:

Incomplete Gun list? (additions constantly being requested)

Track small arms?

Track related items? 26. 27. DRWEB

Deficiency Reporting Web (DRWEB) System

 27. 28. DRWEB FY 02 Total 1432 CODR = 1230 EMR = 104 PQDR = 88 FY 03 Total 2561 CODR = 2228 EMR = 199 PQDR = 234 Current OEF/OIF involvement is the reason for the large increase in DR’s received, and the fact that DRWEB now tracks every commodity required to perform CODR’s (per the 8000.16). There are currently over 3,000 users in DRWEB with around 25 more enrolling every week with virtually no end in sight. A DRWEB users group meeting was conducted Nov 03. The results of the Nov 03 meeting produced approximately 50 user enhancement requests. Most requests will be completed during our 02-April-04 version 1.8 release. Number of DR’s received
