  2. 2. The Pilgrims<br />The pilgrims were from Southampton, England.<br />In order to keep their cultural diversity and<br />avoid oppression from the current king of<br />England, the Pilgrims sought out to go to<br />America and start a new colony.<br />
  3. 3. The Mayflower<br />The Mayflower was the famous ship that<br />transported 102 passengers over to America..<br />
  4. 4. The Arrival<br />In 1920 the Mayflower finally reached America.<br />Although because of winter the ship went off<br />course from its original Destination and stopped<br />off in Massachusetts. <br />
  5. 5. Building a Colony<br />When the Pilgrims arrived it was winter. The<br />Pilgrims met the Native Americans who taught<br />them how to harvest food and grow corn.<br />
  6. 6. The First Thanksgiving<br />In 1621 the first Thanks Giving was held at the<br />Plymouth Plantains where the Pilgrims and the<br />Native Americans had feasts for 4 days to<br />celebrate the harvest.<br />
  7. 7. After the 1600’s<br />Abraham Lincoln was the first person to suggest<br />that we declare Thanksgiving a National Holiday.<br />In 1941 Congress officially announced<br />Thanksgiving a National Holiday<br />
