HOW SHOULD I APPROACH THE QUESTIONS? • Each question is marked out of 12 so you must make sure that you divide your answers evenly. • Make sure that you are not using too may ideas and examples in one answer and not enough in another. • Read through all the information and the each question carefully • Make notes as you are watching/reading the unseen text
  3. 3. HOW SHOULD I APPROACH THE QUESTIONS? The mark scheme is divided into 4 levels with (level 4 being the highest). To get into this level your answers must show that you: • Thoroughly understand each concept • Can discuss it in relation to the unseen text • Give details from the text to show evidence of your understanding • You must use terminology when expressing ideas • To get the highest marks you must explore further than the text and discuss issues and debates
  4. 4. HOW SHOULD I APPROACH THE QUESTIONS? TERMINOLOGY: Key words relating to the key concepts and the technical terms that relate to media language IDEAS AND ISSUES: Theories of semiotics, narrative, genre, representation and audience. Information about the media idustry
  5. 5. HOW SHOULD I APPROACH THE QUESTIONS? MEDIA FORMS- Discuss the codes and conventions in the construction of the text. MEDIA REPRESENTATIONS- Consider the representations of people and places in the text. MEDIA INSTITUTIONS- What does this text tell us about the media institutions involved? MEDIA AUDIENCES- Explore some of the ways in which this text communicates with its target audiences.
