and offensive feedback
that makes you feel
superior!
The purpose of feedback is to improve
the other persons performance and for
their learning and growth.
You give feedback as a
gift.
DO NOT GIVE
ANY
FEEDBACK if
your attitude
or motive is
selfish, mean
or vindictive.
Selfish feedback: What happened
today made me look or feel bad and
I need you to feel bad too.
Mean feedback: You aren’t any good
at this, and you need to know it.
Vindictive feedback: You need to be
brought down a peg or two and I’ll
help humble you with this feedback.
Or if giving the feedback
makes you feel powerful
and makes the other
person feel powerless.
Check your
mindset and
motive
Before giving feedback, remind
yourself why you are doing it. The
purpose of giving feedback is to improve
the situation or the person's
performance. You won't accomplish that
by being harsh, critical or offensive.
You'll likely get much more
from people when your
approach is positive and
focused on improvement.
