6. I Vēsturiski salīdzinošā dimensija:
• 1952. g. pētnieks Kerers piedāvā terminu „geragoģija”;
• 1973. gadā Francijā Tulūzas pilsētā prof. Pjers Vela (Pierre Vellas)
izveidoja mācību iestādi veciem cilvēkiem. Šo iestādi nosauca par
„Trešā vecuma universitāti” (U3A);
• 1980. gadā U3A ideja nonāk Lielbritānijā, kur briti izstrādā
„pašpalīdzības modeli” (self-help). Šo modeli pārņem arī
Austrālija, Jaunzēlande, Kipra, Dienvidāfrika un Dominika.;
• 1984. gadā U3A izveidojas arī Polijas, Čehijas Republikas un
Slovēnijas teritorijā;
• 1998. U3A piedāvā visiem trešā vecuma cilvēkiem apgūt dažādas
programmas un kursus „online” režīmā ar Interneta starpniecību;
• 2009. gadā ASV tiek publicēts "Educational initiatives for the
elderly" dokuments.
