  4. 4. THE PHIILIPPINES Origins and history: A Spanish colony during the 16th century; In 1898 following the Spanish-American War they were ceded to the US. In 1935 the Philippines became a self-governing commonwealth.The president now Benigno Aquino III.
  5. 5. THE PHILIPPINES Quenzon city: is one of the cities that make up Metro Manila, the National Capital Region of the Philippines.It is the most population city in the country.
  6. 6. THE PHILIPPINES Manalia:Is the capital and the second largest city. The city is divided into six legislative districts and consists of sixteen areas.
  7. 7. THE PHILIPPINES Traditions:The Moriones Festival and Sinulog Festival are a couple of the most well-known. These community celebrations are times for feasting, music, and dancing. Some traditions, however, are changing or gradually being forgotten due to modernization. The Bayanihan Philippine National Folk Dance Company has been lauded for preserving many of the various traditional folk dances found throughout the Philippines. They are famed for their iconic performances of Philippine dances such as the tinikling and singkil that both feature the use of clashing bamboo poles

THE PHILIPPINES Traditional food:Philippine cuisine has evolved over several centuries from its Malayo-Polynesian origins to become a mixed cuisine with many Hispanic, Chinese, American, and other Asian influences that have been adopted to local ingredients and the Filipino palate to create distinctively Filipino dishes.
