BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT OREGON • Oregon´s in the northwest of the USA. • It population is about 4,028,977 people. • The state has a mild oceanic climate, it has some evergreen forests in the west and a high desert in the southeast. • The most important cities in Oregon are: • Portland • Salem • Eugene 2

BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT OREGON • You can visit national parks too like: • Crater Lake national park, it was created because of the eruption of Mount Mazama volcano. • Columbia River Gorge national scenic area, which separate Washington and Oregon. • Oregon dunes national recreation area, which is the largest expanse of coastal sand dunes in North America. 3

ECONOMY IN THIS STATE • During the 1990s and 2000s, Oregon has attempted to transition its economy from one based on natural resources to one based on a mix of manufacturing, services, and high technology. • The state's per capita personal income in 2008 was $38,801. • As of July 2015, the state's unemployment rate is 5.9%. Oregon ranks 37th in the nation for unemployment. 4
