3. Does your final product reflect your
original intentions?
Compare your planning/digital flat plans/ storyboards to your final product
Firstly, for looking at my drawing planning that I have done on paper. I would say that
when I was drawing these out I haven’t used used two of them as I thought that would
make it seem better to be fitted together into one instead on two separate pages. As this
was for my drawing story boards. From this I have used only 11 pages from this story
board. From this story board to my digital story board is that I have made them look the
way I want them to look into the theme of Antarctica from the mountains on the outside
and inside of an igloo. These flat plans gave me numerous space of how the text was going
to be represented with a filled layer box behind it to make it to be stand out of the page
overall. As this was the key pint of the story of my flat how I was going to base around the
storyline. So around the text I had created the visual images to go with it. As this would
make it seem more spaced out from one another. Make more clear and simple of how it
has been done with al ready existing projects of story's that are out there already. But
however with the drawing flat plans I could only use a pencil or pen to draw out of how
each section is going turn out to be. However, the problem with this I cannot adjust the
choice of colours as this is the main problem for this type of flat plan for drawing one for
the story board. As you can see to the right hand side that my drawings are all in pen ink,
this doesn’t help me chose the right colours of how I want to make it seem like. Where as,
the other beneficial’s for this story board shows how I would reflect each section of
furniture or the objects of how they should be laid out from one to the other. As these are
chosen different varieties for each section of each object can be changed to fit the
purpose of the sector for the relevant page. Some of these drawing helped me to set
things out for all the individual pages of how everything should be spaced out from each
other.
4. Does your final product reflect your original intentions?
Compare your planning/digital flat plans/ storyboards to your final product
Secondly, using digital flat plans like a storyboard but it has been made on Photoshop. From these story
boards is firstly with the benefits of using this on Photoshop is that you can pick out colours that you can
see. By also using this in colours, I can also use this guide what type of colours fits that will mix with in
everything which has represented onto the page. So from going to the objects that have represented in
these individual pages I have recreated into my own way. For an example of this is when I had recreated
the igloo.
As you can see her from the igloo that has been represented in
the digital flat plan has made me think to create own on the
actual Photoshop. On my own creation of it. As this has shown
that this has been in my plans so I added it in to be produced
into my own final product. As this creation has been numerous
sequences around my storyline. As most of the sequences of
story happens within side the igloo itself. As I thought it would
be a good Idea creating it but then just recreating it for
numerous scenes.
For my main character Goldilocks she was just going to be recreated in different positions of how you
can see her here on the various positions on the digital flat plans. These have been shown the way I
would have wanted to be shown in my finally product the way I have designed them to be shown. From
the digital plan of my storyboard, can see from each stage of my story how everything was going to be
planned out. For instance how I was going to set some specific objects around the place. But, however,
from my digital plan to drawing plan they have been made to be seen as various ways but they don’t
really look mostly like my final storyboard which I have created. As some of these picture I have created
on the right hand side. I haven’t used as my final dissension. So for instant for my first page I have just
made the two characters of Goldilocks and the dog called Bella. This is highly different compared
towards my drawing flat plans that I did firstly. Which can see below. As you can see here that these two
very different as you see from the drawing flat plan is that I have set the house, mountains and the
people in all various different positions. So in my final product of what I have come to is that the setting
of the house has positioned more forwards towards the audience and also the way it has been sized up
to be shown up much bigger than the original idea.
However for the mountains I have made seem to be far in to the distance
but going behind the house instead of being higher than house.
Lastly the people which I have created I have only made Goldilocks and her
dog called Bella. Also how all the over positions where going to be around it.
5. Does your final product reflect your original intentions?
Compare your planning/digital flat plans/ storyboards to your final product
From looking at my final product which I have created from looking from my original intentions. Is that from the look from
all of my pages I have done. Do seem very similar pages that go back to my original ideas which I have made by my flat
plans and story boards. As these particular pages look similar to the ones which I have made into my product. Comparing
them to my storyboards and flat plans.
Storyboard Digital flat plan Final product
From this page that looked similar towards each other from going from storyboard, digital flat plan and my final product. Firstly I got this idea
from the story called ‘The Gruffalo’, as I have seen this has been in most books for little children books. As I thought it was a good idea to put it
in as it way to express these little adventure towards the igloo. This was better idea to keep going through this instead of having three different
pages individually. As this would seem more boring to this type of audience. As this audience which I am targeting at is ages from 3 – 6 year
groups. As they want an easy flow to the system to this kind of book with its visual imagery. As this has been shown in three stage to get to the
igloo. Of first how she is with her dog and then secondly she loses it and then lastly she she finds the igloo which is puffing out smoke. Of the
smells of the food been captured into the air of the cooking which they had made the penguins. But also with these three different two
planning's I have the first, flat plan to look quite messy as the three individually circles have been spaced out randomly across the page. But
however in my digital flat plan and my final product. Can see that these two circles of the way I have made them seem more closer together and
also the way they have been spaced out evenly. This shows that the way the different levels have been shown out. So, then you know by this that
you know what you should look at first and then second and then lastly. As the text has all been resented above them all to also in title you what
is happening with in this picture on it is own.
From this there are multiple similar pages that link with in my all my planning for instance like my storyboard, digital flat plan and eventually
product.
6. How well have you constructed your images?
• How well have you constructed your images? You could talk about the overall visual
appearance and well as the use of texture and colour.
From my final product picture I would say that my construction of these images which I have
created. Considering, that I have tried my best to make it look like an original picture image.
Is by firstly, talking about all my backgrounds is that I have done well on of how I have made
them. As some of are highly different but then some of them are the same like the igloos. So,
for looking at the backgrounds on the ones with a mountains behind them. I have done this
well by adding into the mountains a drift of snow type of texture floating away from the
mountains. As this makes the whole background seem mysterious and and dangerous place
to be. Following this the drifting snow from the mountains and also the various dust from
mountains. Also as well with the mountains I have made an texture detailed within the
mountain by enhancing a darker colour that can be easily been shown as the darker shading
on top of mountain. This makes the texture of the mountains to be seen as more appealing
and works with in the whole of the inter scene which has been created all the around the
scene. From this from mountains and everything else makes the various scenes and the
background of igloo to be more constructed of how much colour alteration going to it with
how objects have been viewed into each pages.
For this page I have constructed very well. For considering, that the way I have set everything
out to this room is all right. For instance the wardrobe as this projects to be a bedroom. As the
colour and and the bed fit with each other with well. As link in to each as well. Of the way I
have made seem that the way wardrobe set in to the far background of the bedroom. So, the
wardrobe seen to be smaller than it actually is. As the first view would be the bed and then
moving off it to around what’s happening through out the scene of page. The bed has been
shown to be texture of a crimpled look within the quilts of where Goldilocks is underneath. This
texture makes it seems more life like by having this makes the effect of the bed. I like the way I
have made the construction of the way I have made the bed a bit 3D ish. By putting on to the
side of the bed a kind of rectangle
7. How well have you constructed your images?
How well have you constructed your images? You could talk about the overall visual appearance and well as the use of
texture and colour.
The way I have constructed this image is well and simple. From the way I have created this image with the chairs having
them all in an even line on a slight slant from one another. As each chair was curved differently to one another as they all
spread out. So that this shows that the main view point to this story page is that it’s main focus is onto the chairs. As there
nothing else to betray a divert over attention on other things like the characters. So this is why I have only used a chairs
here instead of enhancing character on to this page. As this keeps the flow of the story to go through the story very nicely.
As for the colours for each of the chairs are they are always the same types of colours. As one of the penguins belongs is
always red or green or orange. Depending which penguin it is. As this fits well within the story of when Goldilocks goes
inside she sees the three bowls. The same types of colours which have been represented on to here. The colours which I
have chosen all complement each other. The texture of the igloo of each of the different tiles have been shown in
different shapes. This shows that the texture of tiles and the different colour of them reflect on to them. But also with in
the image itself I have added a picture to the side on the igloo wall. This gives the sense of imagery to make it feel more
home based feature towards it. As this just makes it that more calm and not so over crowded.
I think that my overall look on my story the images have all been constructed well and simple for the particular audience
that I am targeting it at. But however there are some pages that seem a bit rushed and which I could do better on is pages 8
and 9. These two pages have both got the image of the just the girls face seems a bit scary without not having a body. As I
should have created a body for character as well within the bed. But apart from this for the construction of the looks of the
image of the pages. I think that everything else looks good and that it suits it’s background of were it has been placed.
These two ages which have been represented above. Which has been shown.
8. How well have you used text to anchor your images
You should talk about the combination of words, images and text.
Throughout my pages I would say that most of my images and text and word type of font which I have
chosen does all match each other. But however there are a couple of pages which don’t correspond
with the anchoring everything together for one full page.
Most pages like these two on the right hand side fit the anchoring category of how it should look. So
the first image to the right hand side. Has been anchored all together by firstly looking at the text and
the background of which it is over. The background box colour matches everything with in this scene.
As this colour that has been used is a pale cream colour, so that the text would be able to be seen
easier and clearer. Also talking about this feature of this shape box is that it really pulls away from the
scene so that the text can easily be noticed. Around this it has got leafs pattern which is going around
the boxes in just two types of colours. This makes the contrast seem more depth towards the igloo. As
one of these light blues which have been used which represents one of the colours from the igloo. The
other colour is light colour that compliments the other colour internally which goes with the scene so
nicely. From the text and the words goes off from this towards above it is the scene of happens

19. Audience Responses
Cultural competence:
Media texts require us to have a certain level of cultural understanding to
be able to interpret them.
At a basic level, this could mean being able to read the language that a
magazine is written in.
At a deeper level, it means being able to interpret signs and symbols that
we use a visual shorthand to communicate ideas.
We recognise these signs in our own culture but find it harder to
understand when looking at others.
We create and attach meaning to signs and symbols in many different
forms.

20. Audience Responses
Cultural competence:
What is this?
This is a Norwegian Pine tree, covered in
snow and with a red ribbon on.
Our cultural understanding allows us to
interpret its meaning.
To us, in British society, it means
Christmas, presents and family.
This is because we share a cultural
knowledge.

21. Audience Responses
Cultural competence:
There are many other signs and symbols
that we attach meaning to.
A leather jacket can imply rebellion.
A sports car can imply wealth and power.
A cross can represent religion.

22. Audience Responses
Cultural competence:
Visual representations of everyday objects are often the same the world
over. A car appears as a car, no matter what country it appears in.
What that car means however, can be very different depending on your
cultural background.

34. Feedback 1
• What do you like about the graphics?
– I like the detail especially with the mountain, dog and the girl.
– I also really like the attention to detail with the three bowls of food and
the add of steam to make each on look different.
– The colour pallet works well together throughout both pages, and you
have also kept the consistency between the colours and the colours of the
penguin.
– It looks realistic more so with the detail with the trees.
• What would you do to develop the graphics?
• I would possibly change the girls facial expression so that she looks more
shocked, so that it links to the text.
• Maybe show that a little bit of the food has been eaten so that it also links in
with the text.
35. Feedback 2
• What do you like about the graphics?
Mountains in 1st image are very well made, inner/outer glow (whichever one
you used) works very well at reflecting light. Characters look good especially
the dog. The little flowers around the text work well in the top image. Inside
of the igloo is very good as it shows it curving into the shape of an igloo not
just going straight up.
• What would you do to develop the graphics?
Consider adding a stroke to the penguins as it is difficult to distinguish
between the smaller one and the other two. This would help separate them.
The little flowers around the text work less well in the second image as it is
less of contrast against the background than in the 1st image. 3rd bowl is
slightly off the table as well.
36. Feedback 3
• What do you like about the graphics?
– I like the detail in the mountains and the igloo. It shows you’ve put a lot of care into
making them. The designs of the dog and penguins look really good too. I also like how
the text boxes have different colours and how you added leaves on the corners.
• What would you do to develop the graphics?
– In the mountain range of the first image, you could consider making the mountains in
the back lighter and slightly blurred to create more of a sense of depth.
– In the second image, maybe you could consider making Goldilocks look like she’s running
and changing her facial expression so that she’s shocked/frightened.
– In the text it says the penguin’s food was eaten from, but the graphics don’t really show
this. Maybe you could consider adding bite marks in the fish tails or something.
